A reliable, spacious car without many frills.
I bought my grey Honda CR-V used two years ago. I like that the car is an SUV, but it's not much to look at. The interior is leather, though not of the highest quality and tears easily. The vinyl on the inside of the car is beige. There are electric windows and electric seats, including heat seats, which I love. The car has a standard size moon roof. In terms of spaciousness, it's pretty good. All of the seats can be laid down in the back and stowed away to make room for large items (i.e. if you're moving or transporting large items). Mechanically, it's a great car, as most Honda's are. I've never had any engine or transmission problems. The brakes that came on the car have to be replaced more than I'd like, and the battery is prone to going out. I do hate the lack of USB charging options. There is only one, and it's in the glove compartment. There is a large center compartment that is spacious, and two regular size cup holders in the front. Gas mileage is awesome, and I often get 30 miles to the gallon if I'm driving efficiently. If you want space for cost, these cars are the way to go.

Honda CRV forever
I've been a CRV person since I bought my mom's when I was in my early 20s, and I'm on my second one since then. It would be hard for me to buy anything that's not a Honda for the rest of my life. I'm not a car person, and I think the utility of an SUV is default requirement for me. However, I'm also broke, so SUV fuel prices have never seemed great to me. With my CRV, I don't have to worry about burning gas everywhere I go. This is the most fuel efficient vehicle. CRVs have an incredible amount of storage space for "small to medium" size SUVs. My sister, her boyfriend, her two kids and all their luggage recently took a 10-hour drive to vacation in Florida and used my CRV in lieu of a rent. They said it was perfectly comfortable, fit all their luggage with plenty of leg room to spare. The way they're designed (compartments, trunk components like removable shelves, etc.) is very convenient. I have two big dogs, and it's easy to put the back seats up and down to open up space in the back of the vehicle. It's got extra shelves and compartments that can easily be stowed away or brought out when you need them (groceries in, dogs out). I have always had the bare bones models, so I'm not sure what they're like with all the bells and whistles. If I could afford the bells and whistles, I'd go straight to the Honda Pilot due to its awesomeness. Quite a bit more expensive to drive around versus the CRV, though, due to its larger size. Anyway, the basic version isn't entirely luxurious. especially if you get the version without leather seats. My last CRV had cloth seats, and if you don't keep them nice, they can get ghetto looking fairly quickly. My previous CRV was a 2004 though, which might have something to do with it. Anyway, my current CRV is a 2011, and it's got leather seats and a nice console that does tick up the luxury just a bit. It's no Lexus though. At the end of the day, though, I don't need a Lexus or an Infinity or sweet Hyundai with hot and cold seats. CRVs are reliable, great looking on the inside and out, and if you're in your early 20s and horrible at maintenance, they can pretty much go a year without an oil change. Don't do that though. But they can. My mechanic friend used to lament and say, "it's only because it's a Honda, you know." I take better care of my car now. The car is good enough for a PTA meeting and totally acceptable for a camping trip or a jaunt through the countryside. I love mine and until I can afford the Pilot, I'll stick to the CRV.
