Why I would buy again.
I bought this car used and have owned it about two to three years. It gets excellent gas mileage for a mid-size (15 mpg town, 20+ mpg highway) and is quite comfortable. I'm 6' 2" and have ample room). Holds five adults very easily and has a very smooth ride. My wife and I enjoy long road trips, and the trunk is more than large enough for luggage. The back seat doesn't fold down for more storage, but it's never been a problem because of the trunk size. The car was used as a rental so there are some features missing that I have had on other cars and I miss. There is only one key hole on the driver's side and none on the passengers with no remote lock/unlock. This is uncomfortable for me as I like to open the passengers door for my wife. Also, the gas filler cap is on the passenger side requiring a trip around the car to fill with gas. The trim and fit isn't as good as I would like, but I understand this is not a top of the line model. Being such a popular model, it can sometimes be hard to find in a parking lot, especially after dark. Power is very good and with the speed control very easy to drive for long trips. I've replaced breaks and tires which I expected when I bought it. I am very aware of proper, regular maintenance. If I was in an accident and had to have the car totaled, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, but with remote locks.

Fore Taurus still a bargain
The Ford Taurus is a great mid-size sedan for the money. It is a very common car so you will likely know a fellow Taurus owner. The car seems to be very simply built and is very reliable. Everything still works on this car including the power windows, moon roof, air conditioning etc. That is unusual for a vehicle with over 200,000 miles and 16 years of service. I have had to make some minor repairs on my Taurus, but it has mostly been DIY projects because the car is so simply constructed. Finding information online about common problems with the car and how to make repairs is also very easy because there are many of them on the road. The car handles and rides well, comparable to any midsize sedan of its class. There is also a large used car market for the Taurus, so one can be obtained at a very reasonable price almost anywhere. I have had a little trouble with bearings, tie rods, and ball joints in the front end of the car but nothing that I wouldn't expect for a car of it's age and mileage. I had most of the front end replaced for a few hundred dollars at a local repair shop. The paint on the hood of the car has also seemed to oxidize more quickly that the rest of the body of the car, so I'm not sure if that typical of the brand or simply a defect in my own Taurus. In conclusion, I would recommend the Ford Taurus and say that you get a lot of bang for your buck with this car.
