Oceanside, CA Driving Tips
Some advice I would use is to definitely be wary of the drunk drivers especially while driving at night. Because Oceanside is part of North County of San Diego, it is very infamous for the many drunk drivers we get in Oceanside and the other cities in North County. So far, I know of two people from my high school that have died from drunk drivers around Oceanside, and two others that got severely injured from driving drunk or getting hit by a drunk driver.
Oceanside, CA Buying Tips
This city is right next to one of the biggest military installations in the world. There are many scammers that try and do business with many of the military personnel since many of them are very young and naive when it comes to buying a car. Personally, I feel like AutoList or craigslist would be a better way to go, or maybe even in other cities where shady car dealerships are not as prevalent.
Favorite driving memory
Oceanside is a great coastal city to live in as it provides many beautiful views of the ocean and is full of many diverse, unique populations. Oceanside also has a rich history from the beginnings of its establishment and even something such as the main high school (which by the way, is over 100+ years old) has helped to commemorate my most favorite memory of driving in this urban beach city. It was the beginning of June 2014 on a very hot, sunny afternoon. The graduation took place at an auditorium literally right at the beach. I was about to graduate high school and excitement and anxiety was in the air. I was about to leave a life I have known for the past 12 years and was ready to embark on a new challenge in life - adulthood. Graduation happened and I said goodbye to all my friends and teachers. I was lost in a crowd of people and couldn't find my parents. I didn't have my phone and waited for over an hour at a bench to find them. The only things I had were my graduation cap and car keys. Finally, after an emotional hour, I got into my car and drove down the busy, packed streets. I saw many graduates, parents, friends, teachers, inspirations, bullies, etc. Crying as I slowly drove past. I have never seen something so sad and bittersweet at the same time. Finally I got passed the busy street and there, right in front of me driving my sweet Honda, was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen in my entire life, with the beautiful shimmering of the baby blue ocean. That was it. I knew my life was a kid was over and I had just witnessed one of the most beautiful things of my adult life in my awesome car in one of the best cities in California. The song "Every Morning" by Sugar Ray was playing and immediately I felt extremely happy. I drove to another part of the beach, near Carlsbad, the next city over and sat in my Honda and ate a delicious burrito and played guitar while watching the waves go by in the moonlight. Sometimes I still drive down that street and see the bench, the ocean view and the auditorium I graduated from. I always think of my Honda and how much I love it, and how much I've grown up since graduation. That was my favorite memory as a driver in this city.
Favorite road
Oceanside Blvd. Oceanside Blvd is many miles long and is almost a straight street the whole route. The speed limit hits up to 60 mph, and the road is very spacious and smooth. I love driving this Blvd at night, especially after work and listening to my favorite CDs on high (legal) volume while enjoying the smooth ride. I have many memories driving this street with my best friends, just because it is so nice and smooth and straight ride through the city.

Oceanside, CA Driving Tips
If you're a tourist by the beach, please get out of the way. Some people actually live there and want to get places on time. If you're going the speed limit, you're going too slow. You should be going five to ten miles over the speed limit, or again, get out of the way. There are always alternate roads to reach your destination. If the 78 is too slow, take Vista Way or vice versa. Watch out when coming down the 5, during rush hour the traffic will pick up again once you pass Camp Pendleton.
Oceanside, CA Buying Tips
Buy from a dealership. Watch out for private sellers with lemons. (This happened to me with my last car.) There's Car Country Carlsbad just down the freeway.
Favorite driving memory
Sometimes when I'm driving down the 76, usually late at night, I can time it just right so I hit every green light along the whole stretch. It's very satisfying when a drive takes you half the time that it does earlier in the day when there is traffic.
Favorite road
Pacific Coast Highway (1). It's right by the beach, so it's the road you drive when you want to relax. (But not when you want to get anywhere fast.) It's nice to drive down at sunset when it's not summer with a ton of people. Or, if you're patient, try it in summer when everyone's there.
