Jeeps are very reliable and safe. Only downfall is gas mileage.
My 2006 Jeep liberty sport is one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. I have had no issues with it, since owning it for a little over 2 years. The drive is smooth and it can handle harsh roads without any problems. Off roading, driving over gravel and torn up concrete is no issue. Gas mileage is one downfall as I have a 45-minute commute and that eats up my gas. I probably have to fill it up about once every week if I drive a lot, if I am not driving as much I can stretch it to filling up once every two weeks. Overall, I feel very safe in my Jeep. The size gives me the room I want and I feel like I can see the road better from a SUV like my Jeep. For it being almost 10 years old, it drives like a brand new car would. It has no weird sounds, the engine is not loud. There is a lot of trunk space. I had a flat tire and all of the necessary items to fix a flat tire are stored under the back seats, easy to put together. I like that the flat is on the outside of the trunk, I think it is a typical Jeep look that the newer Liberty's don't have. Although it is a bit hard to get the spare off, rather than just being able to lift it out of the trunk, I like the look it has. Only one other issue I have had during my time with the jeep is that when it rains if you are to stop for a longer period of time, for example sitting at a red light, the car has a slight problem gaining traction with the ground when you hit the gas and as a result kind of sputters into driving again and the hydroplane light comes on for a few seconds until it can regain traction on the road. Other than that, I have taken my Jeep on multiple 3+ hour road trips and have had no problems, the ride was smooth and enjoyable.

Love Hate Relationship
There are times when I loved this car. There are times when I've hated this car. It seems like it has been plagued with problems since we got it off the CarMax dealership. It still has problems, but through it, I'm learning the art of auto maintenance that I would never have with a more reliable car. Learning is a good thing. I've always loved Jeeps. From the re-"designed" Jeepneys of Philippines, to the rugged Wranglers. I wanted a small SUV that I could park in tight places, but has enough space to carry gardening supplies from the local hardware store. The 4x4 is a plus, though I haven't used it. This little guy serves my purposes for a vehicle. Then It started breaking down, chipping through my patience. First, the windows came down - fell, I should say. The back seat window dropped inside the door in the middle of the highway while my kids were in the back seat. I saw it as a major risk. Through research, I found that there is a recall on the window mechanics of the car, so I forced CarMax to handle the repairs. After the repair, I went to get a new battery. The person who installed the new battery shorted out my power locks, so the computer that unlocks the door with the key button got fried. Then there was another window failure, this time I had all 4 window mechanics replaced. There's a recall on it, saying a tow hitch needs to be installed before somebody hits me from the back and it blows up. The speedometer sometimes doesn't register. Oh and the window is broken again. So reliability is not there. Maybe I should have gotten a LOTUS.
