Monster Used Car Value - Prius
After taking on a new job that required a 90 mile round trip commute, I started hunting for used cars with better reliability and gas mileage than my late-90's Subaru Impreza was giving me. Since I'm a huge analytical nerd, I even built a spreadsheet. As much as I wanted something more "fun," the 2005 Prius kept coming out at the top of the list for cheap commuter cars. Even at 115k miles, I was getting 48mpg and didn't have any reliability or drive-ability problems. At the current 175k miles I've put nothing but standard maintenance into the car and the original hybrid battery system is still going strong. Although it's no sports car, this Prius is fast enough to get the job done without other people running me over. The ride is comfortable and I'm not sure I could ask for more without stepping into a Tesla dealership!

Toyota Prius, a pretty good car
My family bought a Prius new to replace a gas-guzzling Ford Mustang. It became our preferred car for grocery shopping and hauling the dogs around, and has been great for road trips. The interior is comfortable and has a nice amount of headroom even for tall people, and the seats adjust well for everyone. Visibility is very good for all points around the driver. The ride is very smooth and quiet.
