Traffic isn't too bad except during rush hour and in the morning when people are going to school/work. Generally, it's pretty enjoyable and traffic tends to flow generally well. Just pay attention to signs and streets. Driving in center of the city can be a little tricky if you're not paying attention. Sometimes it's easy to miss the street you need to turn on or the store you're going to if you're not paying attention.
Once I know the car I want, I typically do a fair amount of research about the price I should be paying and the deals that other people got in my area if that information is available. I don't really have a favorite car dealer. I go to the one that's willing to sell me the car I want for the price I'm trying to pay.
I don't mind driving, but it can be a chore sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love having a car and the freedom that comes with it. I like being able to conveniently go from point A to point B in a timely manner and the benefits a car brings, but driving can be pretty annoying sometimes. One of the biggest problems is I feel like stoplights are often not synced up very well, even on main roads that are really busy. It seems like there's much more stopping and going than necessary. Sometimes I just want to go somewhere and I feel like it takes a lot longer than it does because I hit like every stoplight.
Erwin Rd.. It's fairly scenic, without too much development yet. The speed limit is 45, so it's not too slow. At the same time, the traffic flows well and there aren't many stoplights, so it's nice to be able to drive without having to constantly slow down and stop. There are a lot of trees, so it's shady, which helps on hot days and it's nicer to look at than the grey buildings of urban centers.

There are signs posted to guide you to all major points in the city. Do not hesitate to stop at a store and ask for directions. The clerks are normally friendly and knowledgeable.
There are car lots all over the city, from buy here pay here to large dealerships. On Roxboro St you will find a lot of the smaller buy here pay here and on 15-501/ Chapel Hill Blvd you will find the dealerships.
Driving in Durham, North Carolina has its ups and downs. What I like most about this city is that you can get almost anywhere multiple ways. It is moderately easy to get back on the right track if you take a wrong turn due to minimal one way streets.
Roxboro Sty. Roxboro St will take you completely through Durham. You can find almost anything you need on, or one turn off of, Roxboro St.
