2001 Chevy Malibu
While I have had a few problems (normal for an older vehicle), this car has been great. Quality parts and labor have obviously been put into this vehicle. I have over 100,000 miles on this car and have had minimal issues. It runs better than some of my friend's cars that are much newer. The interior has maintained its quality, even with above average wear and tear. I have had no issues with the electrical, and I have had only one issue with the performance which is a knocking that comes from the engine. It does sound just like the knocking that occurs when an engine is burning up, however I have had this checked with several highly trained mechanics and it is a common complaint with this year Malibu. Other than that, I have had absolutely no performance problems. I find this fascinating considering how old the car is. The outside does have a few spots that are rusting which is typical in Michigan. It is very versatile for its size - I have put a baby seat, two children, a dog, and myself in the car and still had plenty of room for my skiing equipment. I highly rate this vehicle, and it is my sole reason that I would choose a Chevrolet in the future.

Real sturdy
The car had been in an accident before it got to me, so bear that in mind. Given that it's very reliable, it has been good to me despite some problems. The steering and pedals are light. I like that. It's zippy when you put your foot in it, even though it's the 2.4 liter four cylinder, I believe, but it makes me giggle sometimes. It looks bulky because everything looked bulky in 2014, but it feels very compact from behind the wheel. Good trunk space, backseats a little snug, but I don't sit back there. Now to the problems. First I'll list the ones that came with the car: the battery in the trunk might need replacement. It's been setting off the check engine light. Also, they car has an automatic turn off engine switch when stopped so the whole car shuts off and the engines has to restart. It's annoying. There is a wiring issue with the rear right side door air bags; it's also been setting off a warning light. Problems I've noticed since after I started driving: Transmission acts up sometimes, and I think it caused an oil leak, which is probably serious but I can't afford to fix that. Sometimes, earlier on, the brakes would halfway disappear, and I'd have to pump them till they worked again. Gas mileage seems to be getting worse, but it still gets good mileage for now. I don't what the problem is there though. Other than that, interior build quality is on par with other cars in the segment, infotainment system is kind of ugly, but it's straight forward for the most part, and it has the base stereo I thing and it works fine. The compartment behind the screen is a cool party trick. Good storage space for bottles and stuff, but the glove box is a little small. Overall, this is my first car, so I love this thing. I'm a little biased, but objectively a good, reliable machine.
