2012 Dodge Grand Caravan -- just meh.
This vehicle was purchased as a replacement for our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, which we drove for 14 years and had to replace after it was stolen ... twice ... When we first drove the 2012, it "felt" just like the old one; all the controls, displays, etc. were right where we expected them to be, and everything operated quite intuitively to us. There were even a few nice surprises, like an added storage space under the glove compartment and a little compartment perfect for stashing sunglasses. The old van still had a cassette player, while the newer one has a jack for plugging in audio devices (nope, ours doesn't have Bluetooth). But overall, we've come to a new appreciation of the older van. The newer one just isn't put together as nicely and feels like it's already falling apart. The plastic "skirt" on the driver's side seat is either broken or is not attached properly and often gets stuck on the driver's leg when exiting the vehicle. It did not come with a luggage rack as standard equipment, and we'll need to install one. My biggest dislikes will be detailed in the "cons" below; the van has no "get-up-and-go," the blind spot is huge, and the brakes inexplicably squeak.

Spacious and utilitarian
I had wanted a Dodge Grand Caravan for about 10 years before we actually bought one. We happend to get one as a rental because our previous minivan had been totaled. I fell in love with the automatic dual sliding doors. Before my eldest daughter passed away, it was difficult to find a vehicle that I could get her in and out of easily because she was wheelchair-bound and I could only transfer her to the front seat in other vehicles, which didn't feel very safe since she was under 80 lbs. With the Caravan, I could easily place her in one of the captain seats in the second row, ON EITHER SIDE! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was about that! I also loved that the rear seats had their own air vents, my poor kids didn't have to sweat it out in the back seat during the Arizona summer anymore. The engine was quiet and it had good pickup for a big vehicle. The stow and go feature was also a plus. I love that I can get a piece of furniture or even a Christmas tree in the back without having to pull out the seats and leave them in the garage before I leave. Overall, I've been very happy with our van. I don't regret buying it for one second.
