This car has been through a lot.
This is an old car that keeps breaking in different places, but somehow, it's still pretty drivable and I've made long trips in it while feeling relatively safe. It was big enough for me to drive four friends home back in high school, which was all I really needed. It's always been easy to handle (except for that one time the brakes stopped working, then it became impossible). It has a weirdly long hood, so it's difficult to park until you get used to it. I've never had any problems with heating, the speakers, or any of the interior parts of the car breaking, but I have had problems with the brakes, engine, battery, tires, etc.

Great family car.
This car is without doubt, 100%, by the cliché country mile, the best car in its class. With 300,000 miles I have never once had to do ANY work to this car. I bought it new in 01 and never even parked it in a garage. I have owned other cars in this class and none are anywhere near as good. My Camry started having trouble just after 125k miles and died just before 200k, and my accord died at 175k. I did however have a Nissan that also made it to 300k miles before the expense to repair it exceeded the KBB value. That is when I consider a car dead and junk it. However, that Nissan was not as powerful, not as comfortable, not as easy to drive, not as safe, and parts came from Japan so it cost more to maintain. On my Taurus with the cruise set at 70 I get between 35 and 38 mpg on the Freeway and have gotten 150k miles on each set of brakes too. Now some people will tell you that they had to have a transmission rebuild or replacement. Now as a well read, multiple car owner and gear head, I know why that is. Most cars the seals will last years and many thousands of miles longer than they will on the Taurus. Now that is in fact an issue with Ford's seals but it in no way caused their transmission problems.
