I bought my Honda Civic ES new in 1996 when co-workers insisted I sell my beloved 1989 Honda Wagovan to them. I did extensive research and comparison between various Honda makes as well as Toyota and Subaru models. The 1996 Honda Civic was named "Car of the Year" which influenced me, but I also found that driving it was fun and comfortable since I've always preferred smaller cars.

We bought this vehicle used in 2012 after the unfortunate totaling of another vehicle. We bought it with about 70,000 miles and have over 170,000 miles on it now. In all that time, the only thing to ever fail was a starter! It's been incredibly reliable, offers a comfortable ride and is one of my favorite cars ever. The trunk space is decent for a mid-size sedan. As a working bass player, I need a car that can transport my electric bass and an amplifier. I have never had trouble transporting these, and sometimes more. The main cabin comfortably seats four and a driver or a bunch more musical gear. Fuel economy is great. We get as high as 34 MPG and only fuel up once a week, despite heavy use between my wife and I. I can only imagine what the newer hybrids offer!
