Drive I465, it is a motorway surrounding Indianapolis. It was built to expedite drives in Indianapolis and the surrounding cities. From I465 drivers can access 65 North, 65 South, 70 East and 70 west. These highways divide the city and create easy access points within the city. They also serve as routes to surrounding towns and cities. Any traveler would do well to utilize these major roadways for easy access in and around Indianapolis.
When buying a car in Indianapolis the North side is the place to start. North of Indianapolis has the highest concentration of automobile dealerships in and around Indianapolis. Almost any make and model is available within a few square miles. Buyers can find almost anything ranging from low end first time vehicle to high end luxury models.
I live in Brownsburg IN and drive through Indianapolis, when I drive to work. I love to drive my Ford Taurus around Eagle Creek Park. The park offers a peaceful and scenic route. I enjoy see the trees and animals as I coast through. Some of the pavement around the park is older and has several potholes. Even with the rough pavement my Taurus affords me a smooth and enjoyable ride. The brakes also function well in an environment where animals can dart into the road. I have never had an issue with not being able to stop. No matter the weather, Eagle Creek Park is a pleasant drive in my Ford Taurus.
Raceway road.. Raceway Road is the beginning of my drive around Eagle Creek Park. I enjoy the transition from a well manicured golf course, to heavy woodland and past grassy field. Racyway Road always offers a respite from city driving past malls, and industrial areas. Along Raceway I can peek into the habitats of a miriad of animal life. They range from the small mouse I had to break for as it scurried across the road to the soaring hawk. Fortunately for that mouse I didn't see the hawk during the same drive. I will drive along Raceway Road on every given opportunity, for a brief excursion into nature.

Be aware of where you are, both location-wise and in what lane, because there are many areas where lanes drop out or come in really quickly and people aren't inclined to make room. Also, there's eternally construction downtown and don't expect GPS or your phone's maps to work once you're in downtown for more than a few seconds here and there.
There are little car lots on every corner, or so it seems, outside of downtown. Be wary of them, but give them a look anyway. If you're looking for a budget car, don't take their word that the "service engine" light is on because of something small. Take the car while you're on your test drive to an AutoZone or someplace like that where you can get a free code scan. It may take some time, but you can find decent cars there.
When I was young, I had no experience driving on a freeway or any other limited access road. My friends and I were in Indianapolis for a girls' night out and I was distracted by chatter from the back seat and missed my turn. I didn't realize it until I took the next turn, which happened to be a poorly marked on-ramp for I-465. Suddenly there was dead silence in the car except for my muttering over and over, "Lord, don't let me get us killed!" We survived, I learned quickly what lane I needed to be in, and I never mentioned it to my parents. I pretended that I'd never done it before when my mom took me out to teach me.
Washington St.. I really enjoy getting to see different segments of the city and Washington Street has it all along one street. There are poor neighborhoods, neighborhoods where it's very obviously one ethnicity that is predominant, and then you get closer to downtown and see old industrial areas, and then BAM!- You're in the city center, near everything and it's alive! People going everywhere, it's hard to believe this place is in Indiana.
