A reliable, spacious beast!
This vehicle is, without a doubt, my favorite of all the vehicles I've owned. More than anything, I love how well it handles in inclement weather (namely snow, as I'm in a very cold climate most of the year). I originally purchased the Commander in 2014 direct from owner, so it was already six years old, and I anticipated needing to perform some repairs relatively soon after buying. To my surprise, the vehicle was a champ that has needed nothing except new tires in the five years I've owned it! The inside is so spacious that I've been able to pack it full of people and two dogs without issue, and I've loved being able to put down the third-row seating and open the back hatch to make a large lounging area for sunny days at the park. The MPG is hardly impressive, with my Commander clocking somewhere around 14 city/17 highway, but that's a sacrifice I'm happy to make in exchange for the smooth, secure ride and powerful capabilities. I desperately wish Jeep hadn't stopped making this model because I'm going to start vehicle-shopping again soon (so sad!) and not a single comparable vehicle on the market today seems to stand up to my beastly Commander. One silly detail I've grown to love is the separate key and fob situation. The key for the locks and the fob for the ignition is extremely convenient. I will say it's annoying that there isn't a keyhole on the passenger side, though, but that's only an issue if the keyless entry isn't working. I've put nearly 100,000 miles on this thing since I bought it, and I haven't had a single mechanical issue. Can't say that for my prior cars.

What I like about the Jeep Commander is that it is powerful and has unlimited ability to take you anywhere. With a 5.7L Hemi engine, the Jeep has enough power to pull a boat or trailer in town, on the highway, or up mountain passes without knowing you are pulling thousands of pounds. With the Jeep's 4 x 4 capabilities, you can travel in all conditions with no concern for getting stuck. The Jeep has been taken in blizzard conditions, up mountain back-roads, country wide road-trips, and used as a commuter to work, never failing to meet the need. A dislike I have with the vehicle is the amount of gas is goes through. During my weekly commute via highway miles, I typically average 15 miles per gallon and must fill up quite often.
