In 2004, this was Mazda's answer to the estimable Honda Civic, and it came to be seen as an incredible car at this price point. While the sedan did nothing for me, the hatchback had fantastic looks and great utility. I got mine with the moon roof/CD changer package, painted "Winning Blue," for around $18,500.

I am very happy with my Mazda 3 2012. It has very good gas mileage, compact size for parking, and a reputation for longevity. So far I have not had to do anything other than routine maintenance and I'm at 112,000+ miles. The drivers seat and controls fit me very well for usability and comfort.
