A small car that handles big plans
This is an excellent commuter car that gets good gas mileage, but it is also able to handle long trips and lots of gear. On the highway this car easily gets 33 mpg or more, which is great for an older car. The car's functioning is very dependable, even when I have had engine problems. I always had warnings first, through engine check lights that successfully alerted me to any problems, and all problems have been minimal. In addition to the car's overall dependability and economic functionality, it's also a great traveling car. I have lived out of this car with another person for weeks, and there is lots of space -- in the back seat, and in the surprisingly spacious trunk -- to store things. I've also driven hundreds of miles with five total people in the car with no problems. In addition, I often move my 17-foot kayak with this car. Even though the kayak is longer than the car, it has been easily and safely able to transport it over hundreds of miles (and still gets okay gas mileage!). The tie-down points on the car and the car's ability to handle a roof rack are impressive for how small it is. Finally, I've taken this car on long trips before, over thousands of miles, and down very gnarly, wet, pot-holed roads. This car is not designed to be driven on unmaintained dirt roads, but it has always served me well, and despite bumping the undercarriage many times, nothing has ever been damaged. Overall, this little commuter car with great gas mileage has served me well as an outdoors and long road trip car as well.

The car is very basic, and it has nothing extra that I donÕt need at this moment in my life. It offers a decent sound system to listen to music on my commutes. The seats are comfortable enough to make trips from my house and job, which takes 45 minutes or more. Gas mileage allows me to fill the tank with 20 dollars or so. Performance wise, itÕs no speed demon forcing you to drive within the speed limits of California. As for dislikes, I would point to the materials used in the interior of the car, which are not durable or visually appealing. The size of the car does not help when it comes to transporting passengers and large objects, creativity is a must. IÕve had this Toyota Corolla for more than ten years and counting. So far, the car is quite durable and dependable. In those ten years, the maintenance has been the usual especially for its age. From tire changes, oil change, battery, light bulbs, and so on. The major repairs were in the struts of the wheel. That being said, it is no luxury car. It has rattles in the interior, and the plastic dashboard is faded and starting to break apart. Overall, the car runs well and gets good gas mileage 25 MPG or so. It comes with basic features airbags, on both driver and right side passenger, power windows, and decent A/C and heater. Performance wise, itÕs a good car to get you from place to place not necessarily at blazing speeds. As for interior space, itÕs a small car, but surprisingly you can make it work for you in a pinch. I managed to transport a 40-inch CRT TV to a recycling facility. I can definitely recommend this car for a single young person who needs basic transportation.
