An old reliable friend....
I have had my Toyota Corolla for 17 years and it has only ever needed to be in the shop for two minor accidents I got in (to repair the body). It is completely reliable and dependable. It's small enough to fit into tight spaces, but not so small that you feel cramped sitting inside it. It rides less smoothly than it did in the early years of owning it, but it still rides smoothly overall. It has a pretty good gas-saving engine, although less so in recent years, since I have had the vehicle for an inordinate amount of time. Maneuverability is great. I have driven out-of-state from California to Utah and Arizona with comfort and no fear of car troubles at all. Plus, it performs extremely well at top speeds out on the open highway, giving a smooth, safe ride all the way to your destination. This old model of the Corolla does not have any electric built-in equipment, other than an old tape-deck and radio due to the time period it was made. But, what is built-in to the car has also aged well with the car itself. Some of the interior carpeting on the ceiling of the interior has ripped and the interior frame molding has cracked over the years due to sun exposure. I have trouble keeping the car out of the hot Southern California sun, but that's more my own problem with not having a garage to park the car in. I doubt these problems would exist if I had always had it parked in a garage where a car belongs. It's been a fun vehicle to drive since I was a young adult and continues to aid me well into my adulthood for any and all of my transportation needs.

The car is very basic, and it has nothing extra that I donÕt need at this moment in my life. It offers a decent sound system to listen to music on my commutes. The seats are comfortable enough to make trips from my house and job, which takes 45 minutes or more. Gas mileage allows me to fill the tank with 20 dollars or so. Performance wise, itÕs no speed demon forcing you to drive within the speed limits of California. As for dislikes, I would point to the materials used in the interior of the car, which are not durable or visually appealing. The size of the car does not help when it comes to transporting passengers and large objects, creativity is a must. IÕve had this Toyota Corolla for more than ten years and counting. So far, the car is quite durable and dependable. In those ten years, the maintenance has been the usual especially for its age. From tire changes, oil change, battery, light bulbs, and so on. The major repairs were in the struts of the wheel. That being said, it is no luxury car. It has rattles in the interior, and the plastic dashboard is faded and starting to break apart. Overall, the car runs well and gets good gas mileage 25 MPG or so. It comes with basic features airbags, on both driver and right side passenger, power windows, and decent A/C and heater. Performance wise, itÕs a good car to get you from place to place not necessarily at blazing speeds. As for interior space, itÕs a small car, but surprisingly you can make it work for you in a pinch. I managed to transport a 40-inch CRT TV to a recycling facility. I can definitely recommend this car for a single young person who needs basic transportation.
