Dependable and comfortable
I purchased my Ford Explorer in 2012, two years after the manufacture date. The vehicle is quite suitable for the needs of my family. I have 3 children, and all of them play tennis which requires trunk space to transport equipment. We travel to tournaments on a regular basis which involves carrying tennis bags, coolers, food, and luggage. This vehicle has been convenient for this reason. I leave the third seat down at all times. On the flip side, the gas mileage is mediocre. I could purchase a car with better mileage, but not with the room, unless I spent more money for a hybrid. Also, since the car has over 200,000 miles, I have had to spend in excess of $1,500 in repairs over the last year. I will most likely need to purchase a new car in the next two years. Overall, it has been a good car because of the smooth ride, spacious design, and reliability.

Transmission sucks.
In total the vehicle was good. I had a sunroof. Heated seats. Automatic locks. Automatic windows. The whole nine years it was a good truck, until the transmission started going out. At first it wasn't bad a few slips here and there. Then it got to the point that I had to keep it in 3rd gear all of the time. Lost the overdrive then I had to slam it into third gear to get it there. Then third gear went out entirely. Then second, then first, then the vehicle wouldn't move at all anymore. Oh and I also had no reverse after overdrive quit working. All in all I got around 25000 miles out of it or almost a year and a half before it went from good working condition to a hunk of scrap metal in my front yard. I only paid 800 dollars so I got a bang for my buck. The truck also did no have the best gas mileage in the world either. I think I got around eight miles to the gallon highway and even less in the city. I would not recommend this truck to anybody who is on a budget for gasoline, especially with the rising prices in regular fuel throughout the country.

The salesman was very helpful negotiating financing. I wanted a black Vic and he said he could have it painted for an additional $1,000 so I took it. He made sure I could afford the monthly payments and got the best interest rate.
