The Toyota is wonderful. Maintenance and repairs are a dream because it seldom needs them! I find it quite comfortable, but I am short...It is not a car for big men. It works in a limited way 'off road' on ill maintained gravel roads and grassy areas such as campgrounds. The trunk space is beyond adequate. It has issues in the 'get up and go' department, which should be kept in mind for those who like to dash out in traffic or race up steep inclines - it's most definitely not the car for that. The gas mileage was superior in the 90s and adequate now. Very easy to maneuver in and out of traffic, and exceptionally easy to park given its compact size. The brakes are standard and work fine. The tires are an odd size so may have to be ordered in on occasion. I find it very comfortable to drive given how low it sits, it doesn't stress the lower back; but again, this is a car for a smaller adult and not a large man. I feel perfectly in control driving my little car and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to a girlfriend or buying another one.

The 2014 Ford Focus SE that I purchased is a manual, as opposed to automatic transmission. I bought this thinking that the manual would be a bit more robust, but the clutch assembly failed before it had 50k miles. More over, what was not made apparent to me was that all Focuses have manual transmissions. The automatic is simply an electronically controlled manual transmission. Had this point been made aware to me earlier, I would have simply acquired the automatic variant. However, it has held up well. The silver paint job still shines, the 4 cylinder motor has toughed out from one end of the country through hash terrain very well. I have had little complaints other than the clutch assembly having an issue, but that ended up being a $200 fix. The blue-tooth connection works well, however connecting a phone is a bit difficult. The menu to navigate blue-tooth and phone connectivity settings isn't as intuitive as I would like, but with a bit of playing around, I was able to find everything I needed. All and all the vehicle serves its purpose of being a grocery-getter quite well.
