I bought the truck and initially drove it back and forth to college. The extended cab on the truck help me move in and out of my dorm room several times. The truck also has the tow package and I've towed campers/trailers of varying sizes with that. Since I have owned the truck It has never left me stranded anywhere. I can rely on it to get me where ever I happen to want it to go. Many friends ask me to help them move or carry large items for them since I can fit just about anything.

The Ford Ranger is a highly coveted truck for those who want the versatility of a truck without the heavy-duty horsepower. The XLT has a v6 engine. This puts it in the category of larger trucks such as the F150 and Dodge Ram. However, with a smaller, lighter body, it gets better gas mileage than either of those models. The crew cab is somewhat lack-luster, providing only cramped jumper seats. The Rangers have great engines, from the oldest to newest models. However, the bodies are not so great. In places where the roads get salted in winter, it is a good idea to seal the bottom of the truck. Otherwise rust will start to eat at the engine mounts and body after a few years. Otherwise, it is a good solid small truck for those who want both good gas mileage and versatility.
