The American auto industry is known for making some of the best trucks in the world, but they're not always known for returning the best gas mileage. That said, automakers have refined the full-size truck formula, adding efficiency while retaining the towing capacity and ruggedness while delivering mpg numbers that rival many new cars. Here are our favorite, most fuel-efficient new trucks on sale today.

1. 2024 Ford Maverick
Price: $23,920+
MPG: Up to 37 mpg combined
The Maverick is Ford's smallest and most fuel-efficient truck. The Maverick offers up to 250 horsepower in its most potent trim levels and is available with a four-cylinder engine or a hybrid powertrain. However, the truck is most efficient with the less powerful hybrid setup.
Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive (AWD) is available. Though not as robust as its midsize and full-size counterparts, the Ranger and the F-150, the Maverick, can tow up to 4,000 pounds when equipped with the optional 4K Tow Package.
The Maverick seats five people on standard cloth upholstery, while more expensive trims get synthetic leather. There's little in the way of luxury equipment, but Ford offers heated seats in some configurations.
Front-seat passengers have a good amount of space, and the seats are comfortable and supportive but firm. That said, taller adults may feel cramped in the back, as the seat's awkward, upright position and limited legroom make themselves immediately apparent. An eight-inch touchscreen comes standard, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ford's Sync infotainment system is one of the easier-to-use interfaces, and the display feels snappy and responsive.

2. 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Price: $36,800+
MPG: Up to 26 mpg combined
The Silverado offers a long list of features and excellent capability. It's not the most fuel-efficient rig on this list, but it gets the job done.
The diesel engine is the most efficient of the range and also has the most torque. The turbocharged six-cylinder engine makes 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, which reaches the rear or all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Chevy offers a turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the entry-level powertrain, which produces 310 horsepower and a surprising 430 pounds of torque. It's the least expensive option, but some may find a four-cylinder in a full-size truck off-putting.
The newest Silverados have spacious interiors that range from basic work truck accommodations to luxury levels of fit and finish. It seats between three and six people, depending on the configuration. The crew cab models offer the most space inside, and top trims are limited to that cab style.
Beyond the basic Work Truck trim with vinyl seats and a vinyl floor covering, the standard upholstery is cloth. Leather upholstery is available, along with heated and ventilated front seats.
A seven-inch touchscreen comes standard in less expensive trims, but pricier models get a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch configurable digital gauge cluster. The larger system comes with Google Built-in, which brings Maps, Play Store features, voice commands, and more. Chevy's base infotainment interface is feature-rich and easy to use.

3. 2024 Ford Ranger
Price: $32,820+
MPG: Up to 22 mpg combined
Ford offers two drivetrain options, including the base turbo-four, which makes 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine is available, making 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, but the more powerful engine delivers that output at the expense of fuel economy. Rear-wheel drive is standard, four-wheel drive is available, and all engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The base turbo four-cylinder engine offers strong acceleration and good passing power at highway speeds. However, the turbo takes time to deliver its punch, and the wait is noticeable. The truck is otherwise mostly comfortable, handling rough roads and heavy loads like a midsize champ.
The Ranger comes only in a crew cab configuration with a five-foot bed. Cloth upholstery is standard, but higher trims add genuine leather. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are available. There's a good amount of space in both seating rows, including in the back seat, where the Ranger is more comfortable than many of its rivals.
Ford equips a 10-inch touchscreen as standard, which brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, and more. More expensive trims get a 12-inch portrait-oriented display, and a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster wireless charging, HD radio, a Bang and Olufsen stereo, among other upgrades. Ford's Sync infotainment system is intuitive responsive, and easy to use.

4. 2025 GMC Sierra 1500
Price: $38,300+
MPG: Up to 26 mpg combined
Like the Silverado, the Sierra 1500 is available with a diesel engine, which gives it excellent gas mileage for a pickup truck and strong towing and payload capabilities. It's also available with a four-cylinder engine as the cheapest option, but the diesel is better for work duties and has superior fuel economy. Any available engine options offer strong acceleration and torque, and the V8 engines make the Sierra downright quick in most situations.
Basic variants show their truck roots on the road, with somewhat rough-and-tumble ride quality and handling. Higher trims get cushier suspension systems and they're more comfortable.
GMC offers three cab configurations and three different bed lengths. The crew cab setup provides the most spacious interior, with seating for up to six passengers.
The front row is wide, spacious, and well padded, and adults can ride in the back seat without much hassle. Cloth comes standard, but higher trims step up to premium leather upholstery and upgrades such as massaging front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
A seven-inch touchscreen is standard, bringing wireless smartphone mirroring, Bluetooth, and more. GMC offers a larger 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, SiriusXM radio, two Bose stereo upgrades, and more. Like the Chevy Silverado, the GMC Sierra gets built-in Google, adding functionality and convenience to the interface.

5. 2024 Ford F-150
Price: $37,065+
MPG: Up to 23 mpg combined
The EPA hadn't released full fuel economy numbers for the 2025 model year F-150 at the time of writing, but they're expected to be close to the outgoing model's figures. Ford offers the truck with an EcoBoost-based hybrid powertrain, which provides the best fuel economy of the lineup. Still, several other options are available, including twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engines, a V8, and more.
Stepping up in power and capability often comes at the expense of gas mileage, so it's important to match the powertrain to your requirements. That said, all F-150 engine options offer good acceleration and capability, while the hybrid's electric motor gives the vehicle more grunt off the line and a livelier feel in town. All versions have a decent ride quality, but top variants have more forgiving suspension systems that smooth out all but the worst roads.
The F-150 is available in three cab configurations and with various bed lengths. Crew cab models have the best interior space, seating up to six people in the Super Cab and SuperCrew body styles.
While the base truck has vinyl seats and flooring, most start with cloth upholstery, and the most expensive configurations have leather, heated, and ventilated front seats, among other options. Interior finishes and materials quality vary between trims, but the highest configurations offer some of the best cabin designs in the full-size pickup truck world.
A 12-inch touchscreen comes standard, along with a 12-inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, with four speakers, SiriusXM radio, voice commands, and USB inputs. Navigation, two B&O stereo options, wireless charging, HD radio, and more are available. Ford's sync system brings several great features, and it's responsive interface is easy to use while driving.

6. 2025 Toyota Tundra
Price: $40,090+
MPG: Up to 22 mpg combined
Toyota recently upgraded the Tundra, swapping its long-running V8 engine for a twin-turbo V6 and hybrid powertrains. It's available with up to 437 horsepower in the Hybrid Max configuration, but all three powertrain setups have enough grunt for daily driving and regular commuting. At the same time, the truck provides decent towing and payload capabilities, plus a comfortable ride.
Two body styles are available: double cab and crew cab, which offer seating for up to five people. Cloth upholstery is standard, but Toyota offers leather, and higher trims add heated and ventilated front seats. The top Capstone trim has massaging front seats, but its price tag can reach unreasonable levels for many buyers.
Toyota's much-improved infotainment system runs well on the standard eight-inch display, and offers six speakers, voice commands, SiriusXM radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, among other elements. The new interface is far easier to use than prior iterations, offering responsive, simple navigation and plenty of compelling features.

7. 2024 Toyota Tacoma
Price: $31,500+
MPG: Up to 24 mpg combined
The EPA had not released numbers for the 2025 Tacoma at the time of writing, but it should land close to the 2024 model's expected fuel economy. Toyota offers three turbocharged four-cylinder engine options, ranging in output up to 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.
The Tacoma isn't the quickest truck on the block, but it has ample power for commuting and highway cruising and can also tow up to 6,500 pounds with the tow hitch and other upgrades.
The new Tacoma seats up to four in the base XtraCab configuration, while the double cab seats up to five on standard cloth upholstery. Synthetic leather, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power front-seat adjustments are available.
An eight-inch touchscreen and seven-inch digital gauge cluster come standard, along with wireless smartphone mirroring, voice commands, four speakers, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, and more. A 14-inch touchscreen, which pairs with a configurable 12.3-inch gauge cluster, is available. The upgraded system brings navigation, wireless charging, and a JBL stereo system.

8. 2025 Ram 1500
Price: $40,275+
MPG: Up to 23 mpg combined
The Ram 1500 has one of the best rides in its class, although it lost the diesel option that brought better fuel economy.
The remaining powertrain options offer up to 540 horsepower from the high-output twin-turbo inline-six. Towing reaches up to 11,560 pounds, and payload climbs to as much as 2,300 pounds. Ram's new turbocharged six-cylinder engines don't sound as rowdy as the outgoing Hemi V8's, but they deliver refined power and solid acceleration.
The 1500's interior feels smarter than it needs to in all configurations, and the top trims rival the fit and finish of some luxury vehicles. Cloth upholstery is standard for lower trims, although the base-base model gets vinyl. Leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, and power-adjustable pedals are available.
An 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard, running the Uconnect 5 infotainment interface. Ram offers two screen upgrades, including 12- and 14.4-inch displays. Top trims gain access to audio upgrades, including a Harman Kardon system and an ultra-high-end Klipsch Reference system.

9. 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz
Price: $28,500+
MPG: Up to 25 mpg combined
The Hyundai Santa Cruz combines compact pickup capability with an SUV-like ride and interior quality. Hyundai offers two engine options: a non-turbo four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and a turbo mill making 281 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
The base engine gets an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the turbo-four gets an eight-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. Acceleration is acceptable with either engine choice, but the turbocharged configuration is more powerful and livelier in almost all scenarios. Buyers wanting a similar layout with more space can opt for the Honda Ridgeline, which has a V6 engine and a larger interior.
The five-seat Santa Cruz comes with cloth upholstery, but Hyundai offers synthetic and genuine hides in more expensive trims. The truck has good space across both rows, though taller adults may need more legroom in the back.
A 12.3-inch touchscreen comes standard, bringing wireless smartphone mirroring, HD radio, SiriusXM, and more. Higher trims add a 12.3-inch digital gage cluster, additional USB ports, and connected app functionality.

10. 2024 Chevrolet Colorado
Price: $29,800+
MPG: Up to 22 mpg combined
The Chevy Colorado has a solid interior, a pleasant ride quality, and great tech. It's also smaller and more affordable than the full-size Chevy Silverado.
Though the fuel-efficient diesel engine option is no longer offered, the midsize truck gets a surprisingly stout turbocharged four-cylinder engine, making 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear or all four wheels.
The turbocharged four-cylinder never feels short on power, and the transmission is smooth and refined, even on challenging off-road trails. The GMC Canyon offers identical fuel economy ratings, making it another strong choice in the midsize pickup segment.
The Colorado seats five in a crew cab configuration, though taller passengers won't be comfortable in the back seat, because headroom is limited. Cloth upholstery comes standard, but Chevy offers a few upgrades, including synthetic leather, genuine leather, and heated/ventilated front seats. A heated steering wheel and power-adjustable front seats are also available.
The Chevy comes with an 11.3-inch touchscreen, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, and a load of other desirable features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-In, six speakers, SiriusXM, and more. The interface was already easy to navigate and use while driving, and the addition of Google services adds several handy features.
