Jeep Cherokee—Great ride when not in the shop.
I bought my 1998 Jeep Cherokee used on a reference from a family member who had one of their own. The good stuff was really good. It had a great stereo system. It was also incredibly spacious and had comfortable leather seats with automatic everything. The ride was smooth for an SUV, but that was when I could keep it out of the shop. It seemed like every few months I was back in the dealership shop getting something replaced or fixed. First it was the suspension, then the brake system, and then the alternator. It was also a bit of a gas guzzler. It felt like I got around 12 miles to the gallon sometimes. But when I wasn't in the shop, it was hands down one of the best cars I've ever owned. It got me from point A to point B, drove smooth, and allowed me to pack all of my camping junk inside with room to spare. I feel like the later models were a bit better. My sister had a 2000 model with no issues whatsoever.

This is a dependable vehicle that does have some creature comforts in the interior.
I like this vehicle very much. It is a very proven brand for dependability and longevity. The fuel mileage is a little disappointing for the size and type of vehicle. This two-wheel drive version does not perform very well on icy roadways. The lightweight rear end does not help with gaining traction.

The people were kind, honest, and straight-forward. They were also patient about how we were going about making our choice for a vehicle, the desire to sit inside to get a feel for how large/comfortable/safe it was, as well as test driving. Did not attempt to rush us at any point in time, even with how large the lot was and the fact there were other customers more likely to buy looking around. Did not mind staying even late into the night after their time working was up.
