Mediocre
Overall, the Jeep Patriot is a shoddy entry in the Jeep lineup. Build quality is not up to par with Jeep's famous 4X4 reputation, nor is it rugged enough to go off-road. I enjoy that the vehicles shape and design is a bit of a throwback to the Jeep Cherokee's of the 80's and 90's, that so many Jeep owners still adore.

It is a good all purpose vehicle
My husband bought this as a surprise for our 10 year anniversary. I had previously driven a 1997 Jeep Cherokee that I loved, but was getting old and we had given it to out 16 year old daughter. I was surprised by the difference in handling. My old Jeep was a tank, and required physical effort to steer. The Patriot was like driving a car. The Patriot was also a lot roomier, but had almost the same storage capacity. It took a while to adjust to the CVR transmission but once I got used to it, I liked it. I was a little disappointed that it did not have the power of my old Jeep, but it had better maneuverability. It is very easy to drive, and I like the features like heated seats and all the controls on the steering wheel. It is decent on gas. I have had problems with the sensors on the tires. No matter how many times I put air in the dash light indicates low air pressure. It was a good value for the money, but I miss my old jeep.
