I wouldn't buy another one.
I had wanted a Jeep for a long time. Of course I did! They are fun and cool. I went to see a friend a few towns over, and her boyfriend had this yellow Jeep, and I fell in love with it. A few months later, my friend told me he was selling it, so I bought it for five grand. It had 100,000 miles on it but was in great shape. Immediately after taking ownership, the top began to literally fall apart at the seams. New tops are not cheap. To be honest, as in love with it as I was... driving it was a different story. As I said, my friend lived a few towns over, so I picked it up and had to drive it home. This is not a car you want to be driving at 70 mph. A semi passed me, and I thought I was a goner. It's like driving an orange juice can. Another thing I noticed is...well, I have always been a very careful safe driver...not like a grandma but no tickets and no accidents. I always signal, etc.. But driving the Jeep, I noticed myself driving worse. I don't know why -- it's weird. In some ways it's fun to drive, like with the top off on a late summer evening, but it's not what you would call a comfortable ride or a safe one for that matter. I'm about to sell it. They hold their value -- I will give it that. Oh and let's see, I've had my stereo stolen, the spare on the back stolen, my registration sticker stolen, and found evidence of someone I guess sleeping in it. I live in a great low-crime neighborhood, but it's wide open.

I always wanted a Jeep. Mine is yellow and sexy...however, when I first got it and reality set in, well, there are definitely some realities that come with a Jeep that you should know when considering one. It is not a particularly comfortable ride. I am used to it now, but when I first got it, I found it quite jarring. It is important to remember that although cute and trendy, this type of Jeep was built as a utility vehicle for the army, so it is pretty damn basic. Even fully loaded, it's never going to feel luxurious, not even slightly. That said, it is a fun car to drive. I have enjoyed having it. And let me tell you what, Jeep Wranglers hold their value. It is quite surprising. Mine is a 2001, people offer me 5-6k all the time for it without it even being for sale, and it is not in perfect condition at all.
