90S SpoCom Feel, Quirky Modern Style
It's hard to talk briefly about the Cube. At first glance it looks like just another example of the "box" style, with creative (or try hard, if you prefer) window layouts. In fact, aside from the windows, the Cube would seem to be just another box on wheels, with nothing to recommend it over the competition. Driving (or just riding in) the cube is a whole different thing, however. For as small as it looks, it's almost jarring how much room there is when you sit down. It feels like everything is three feet away from you, but at the same time everything feels like it's right where you want it to be, from the convenient cupholder to the left of the gauge cluster, to the glowy orange HVAC controls. If you opt for the 6-speed manual transmission (and you should, OH how you should!), You'll find the shift action to be smooth, with well-defined gears. It's not a fast car, by any means, but with the manual transmission it's incredibly fun, revving happily all the way up to its redline whenever you ask it to. It seems eager, despite the lack of power, and brings back memories of driving the iconic early-90s sport compacts like the VW GTi or Honda Civic. It's also great for hauling passengers. The back seat can slide forward or back for more legroom, or the two segments of the seatback can recline independently of each other. Hauling rather large loads is also possible, but at the cost of passenger capacity; the actual cargo area is fairly small for something with such a huge back door, but with the seat out of the way you've got a great deal of room, at a reported 58 cubic feet. The Nissan Cube offers 90s spo-com fun and stand-out styling, and is reportedly one of the safest things on the road today. Perhaps this reviewer is getting old, but what more do you want out of a daily-driver?

Made for me.
My Nissan Cube fits my needs better than any of the 10 cars I previously owned. It has all the room I like and need, but packed into a compact footprint. I love the quirky shape of it, and prefer having something a little different than the beige or grey everyone has one type vehicle!
