It's an "ehh" purchase
I purchased this vehicle as a commuter car because it was low mileage and had great mpg! I averaged about 32 mpg, and though I couldn't make a full work week on one tank, it was much better than what I had been driving. It has a large trunk for the size of the car overall, dashboard is well lit and it's easy to maneuver. First bad experience was the transmission. It seemed as if it took too long to change gears while accelerating on the highway. Then, after I drove on the highway for a while and came to a stop for a turn, it didn't want to pass through the turn. A difficult problem to show to a transmission repair shop, so I just let it go for three years. After these three years, I could tell that the transmission was on its last leg because each of these things became more recurrent, a cheap car and not worth the cost of either repairing or replacing the transmission. Second bad experience within the first year was that having used the A/C while sitting on an on-ramp for 20 minutes to a major highway, it stalled out as I was accelerating to enter the highway. This issue happened several times after, but usually after my highway commute was over and I was in a parking lot to do some shopping before going home. Third was highway noise. Fourth problem was Texas wind, a gust of wind would almost send you in to another vehicle, and I always had a fear of being pulled over for swerving across the lane line. Fifth and most workable problem was the blind spots caused by the head rests, easy to pull them out and get a clear view, but it should have been considered in the design and ability to drive safely.

A good family car.
We purchased this car new in December 2012. My husband used it to drive to his main job, 30 minutes of highway one way, and to deliver pizzas at his second job. 90,000 miles later, our only problems had been blown tires due to local construction in front of the pizza place. I took over daily driving of the car summer 2016. It was a little tough going from a manual to an automatic transmission. I didn't know what to do with myself. Power windows and locks were the biggest blessing for this mom. We are still under 100,000 miles but I keep inching closer. We did have to replace a belt this summer, but the repair was done during a recall repair, so we were only charged $150 for the parts. We've had a couple rattles and shakes, but anything that I found annoying was gone after the recall repair. We are just starting to teach our 15 year old how to drive and feel confident putting this car in his hands.
