The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is a new car developed by Toyota’s performance and motorsports team, Gazoo racing (GR), to support Toyota’s president Akio Toyoda’s vision of embedding excitement into Toyota’s products. All GR Corollas are built in a dedicated factory space in Motomachi, Japan, and offer a familiar Toyota Corolla interior.
The GR Corolla was built to take on rivals such as the Honda Civic Type R and the Volkswagen Golf R in the hot hatch segment. Subaru’s legendary WRX STI replacement is skipping a generation, allowing the GR Corolla to settle into the segment.
