2009 Toyota Prius OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS
Town Line, New York
Awesome car.
First and foremost, I love the unbeatable mileages on this car. It also handles well in the snow, although I did have to upgrade the tires. It is easy to drive, the savings in gas make up for the slightly higher cost. The interior is minimal, especially on the dashboard. I have the navigation system in mine and it is invaluable. Not only does it provide travel directions, but it will also display messages should a warning light come on which helps identify what the problem is. It is very roomy. You can find information online about how to change out items such as the headlights yourself, without having to take it to the dealer who will want to take your entire front bumper off which really is not necessary. I doubt I will ever buy a different car.

Economical Compact Ride
The economical nature of this car is the best feature. When we first purchased it in 2011, we were getting 50 mpg. Today we average around 46 mpg. I love the high tech features on the display panel that indicate your gas mileage/fuel efficiency in five minute increments of drive time. The display panel also allows the driver to change temperature/air conditioning and audio. The backup camera is a huge plus with young children around. I have no complaints about the functionality of all that. The styling of the body was a little futuristic at first, but I soon became accustomed to it. It could definitely be considered sleek. The build quality is fine, but some improvements could be made to improve the interior quality. Specifically the door panels, seat upholstery, and center console could be upgraded to give a more luxurious feel. The handling is great. Some people criticize Prius for not being able to "get up and go"; well, they must not be driving it right. Acceleration is not a problem, and speeding is easy. The car is very reliable, comfortable, and definitely practical. The only problem we have had thus far with the car is the gas tank and its ability to accurately indicate the gas level. The actual indicator on the dash panel is accurate, but the sensor inside the tank can be fickle when pumping gas. Randomly gas pumps may auto shut off in seconds so that you have to manually pump, pump, pump the gas into the car until you reach the desired level of gallons that you know your car is capable of holding. This is more likely to happen in warmer months. The other minor criticism I have is the small size of the hatchback. At first I thought it was spacious, until I had to haul giant strollers and tricycles and such and still make room for an emergency diaper change.

This car at first looked like a wonderful fit for me. I get about 46 miles to the gallon. This is important because I'm driving 60 miles per day. It has a touch screen navigation system. This touch screen also includes an interface to change the climate, radio, calendar, energy usage and consumption. This is also where the backup camera display is shown. This is probably one of my favorite features. The car also has a feature where when you put the car in reverse, it starts beeping, just like a large truck. The interior is nice. The seats are grey fabric. The seat movement is manual, so no automatic/power controls. This car has automatic windows and buttons to move the side mirrors. The rearview mirror dims when a cars with bright lights come up behind you. It also has controls that you can program to your garage door. Push button start is great. As long as your key is in the car, it will turn on. If you leave the car running and get out with the keys, it will beep until you put the keys back in the car. Another favorite feature of mine is if you leave your keys in the car, and lock the door manually, the doors will automatically unlock, so you never have to worry about locking your keys in the car. One last feature I enjoy is that I do not have to have my keys in hand to unlock the doors. As long as the key is within three feet of the car, if I touch the door handles they will automatically unlock.
