VW Golf bridges the gap between efficiency and aesthetic
What I like about this car is the color and design. My car is a hatchback and looks sporty. Inside the car it is spacious and has a ton of room in the backseat for other passengers. I love that my car has a sport mode and can provide a sport feel when driving down the freeway. In addition, my car has a great Bluetooth pairing feature for listening to my music while cruising.

Cute and compact commuter car
I like a modest vehicle that isn't too flashy. Something small and nimble that doesn't try to make a statement about the one driving it. The Golf had a certain elegant simplicity, without being sort of dowdy, like a lot of commuter cars are. On the other hand, they aren't as common as a Honda Civic, so it doesn't have the feel that you're driving in the lowest common denominator vehicle. The 2005 Golf has a manual gearshift, which I enjoy. I personally love driving stick, since it enhances your feeling of control over the vehicle and lets you add a little to the acceleration as the circumstances to demand. Power doors, windows, side mirrors are all there. It has cruise control, which I've grown more reliant on, so I don't have to monitor my speed as much during a longer drive. The interior is nothing out of the ordinary, but after driving Hondas most of my adult life, it feels new to me, with the slight design differences between a German and a Japanese car. At over 100,000 miles, the Golf I drive still feels solid, and I like the handling of the steering wheel. It feels very responsive and that gives confidence. On top of that, I've found the gas mileage to be better than expected.
