Very Reliable
The trooper was a very good vehicle. Especially for the time I needed it. The cargo space and accessibility of that space were a major selling point for me originally. Ample room for five people and pretty much an entire month's worth of groceries. Solid craftsmanship on the vehicle itself. Wonderful MPG and mostly a low maintance SUV. But once one thing in the car goes bad it starts a cascade of a bunch of other little things.

Workhorse of a vehicle, comfortable ride, reliable SUV, and lots of cargo room.
I love driving this vehicle. It doesn't ride like a "truck" like a lot of SUVs. Tons of head room and cargo space, reliable, goes just about anywhere (and I've taken it places I probably shouldn't have!). Not great on gas mileage but not too terrible. It's been really great overall and has required very little mechanical work except standard maintenance.

Sturdy, dependable, adventurous
This car is very large and roomy, excellent for anyone who has kids or needs to carry things around frequently. The styling is somewhat boxy, but overall I think it is a nice looking car for its type. The seats, which are cloth, are very comfortable, and the space inside feels quite large. However, because of this the gas mileage is not very good, at only about 17 miles per gallon. I enjoy the freedom that the manual transmission gives me while driving. The 4-wheel drive allows for a lot of fun off-roading. I feel safe driving it, as there have been no major problems with braking or handling, though as with all SUV models it is best to take sharp turns slowly. It is somewhat top heavy. This year's model of the Trooper has a defect that causes oil not to reach the top of the engine block at times, which causes a loud tapping sound, especially in winter. Since it's an older car, it's in the shop maybe once a year, but only in the past five or six years (I've owned it for ten). Self-maintenance is very easy, though, which saves on the overall operating cost of this vehicle.
