Problematic
I own a 1999 Nissan Altima. I like that for the most part over it's 130,XXX mile lifespan, it has have very few problems. We replaced the alternator a few years ago when it wouldn't charge the car battery anymore. Major key components are still original including engine and transmission. The car handles astoundingly well and the steering is precise once you get used to it. It may not have the smallest turning radius, but it does have that "fun to drive" feel if you are driving on a road with a lot of twists and turns. The radio was a problem area. The speakers burst after years of ownership and the CD player started to skip as well. We replaced these with after market speakers and an aftermarket head unit with CD player. Nowadays, this isn't so much of an issue since most people are using some form of mp3 player and modern cars come equipped with a USB out. All in all a good car.

Last Forever
This car has almost 300,000 miles and is still going strong. Although the finish is starting to come off, it still looks OK. This car has been our family car since 2001 when we purchased it with less than 30,000 miles on it. It has lots of trunk space and the back seats can be put down for extra long and skinny items like bolts of fabric. Nearly every mechanic I have taken the car too says this car will last forever if taken car off. It is a gray blue 4 door sedan which is great for small and then larger children. Oil changes about every 5000 miles have helped. I have had no major engine trouble. Of course, I have had work done on the car, including a recent seal on the engine with a bad oil leak. But, this car is easy to handle and goes forever getting about 25miles/gallon. The one irritating thing about this car is that it is hard to see out the back window backing up. If one is tall enough, it is not an issue. The seat could be slightly higher and that would resolve the issue, because a wedge shaped pillow helps.
