Scion xB OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Reliable and wheelchair ready.
My scion xB is a special case in that it is modified to accommodate my wheelchair. An automatic ramp folds out of the trunk hatch and my chair is secured in the back where the back seat used to be. It is a great substitute for a giant minivan, however I do sometimes wish I had more than one passenger seat. Besides the modifications, the car itself is a regular 2005 xB. It has been very reliable, and I keep it regularly checked at a Toyota dealership to avoid any issues. I have still had to replace the catalytic converter, right front wheel bearing, and numerous other things, but most of the time it has been due to normal ware and tear over 10 years. I like its interior, which is very quiet when the engine is off or idle. The large windows all around give a fantastic 360 degree view. The dash has a nice modern design and is located in a convenient central position for the driver, making it very easy to check and read. It has good pickup, but it can slow drastically when driving up a hill. The turning radius is very sharp, needing only 2.5 to 3 lanes to do a U-turn. The square design wasn't my favorite at first, but now I like how unique it is. Overall I would say it is the best choice of vehicles for me out of the limited options I had, given my disability.

Great car for climate without winter
What you see is what you get. The parts are all made by Toyota (their logo is stamped on everything!), So you know they're dependable. In the event the vehicle needs servicing, the parts are all made by Toyota, so they're easy to find. This is a "no frills" vehicle, coming with bare bones, and no extra features. However, the price reflects this, so the idea of putting some money into after-market parts isn't too off-putting. The ride is pretty rough and loud, but, again, you're getting what you pay for. The one large downside is the ground clearance (or lack thereof). I live in Minnesota, and half the winter I'm the one plowing the roads (rather, I'm attempting to). The car is so light is struggles to gain traction on snow and ice, which is a constant in this state from November to April.

The best car maker
The Scion xB is amazing. It is a five seater with plenty of leg room in both the front and the back. The trunk has ample space. The back seats lay down to provide a bigger trunk area. There is a ton of head room for those over 6 feet tall. The seats are comfortable for long trips. The A/C is good, except there aren't enough vents. So on a hot day, the people in the back are dying of heat stroke. The style of the car is so cute. When it came out it was the first of its design. Scion is the best car maker! The only other negative was there wasn't a USB/Aux option to plug in my iPod. On the newer additions, it is there. However, the 2004 did not have it.
