Very solid vehicle
The current used vehicle I drive is a 2003 Saturn Vue. It was purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle. The car was in excellent shape when I bought it - only a few carpet stains but very nice, other than that. The first thing that attracted me to the car was the space inside. From the outside, it doesn't seem that big, but once inside, the space is very noticeable. I have used this car almost daily, and it has helped me move from three different houses. The gas mileage is another thing I like about the car. It ends up being around 24 miles per gallon which was a lot better than my previous car. Filling up my car less is a huge positive. A dislike that I have about the car is the plastic molding on the inside. I have had some issues with parts falling off. The entire door molding fell off completely, so this has made trying to open the door a problem. Another dislike is the design of the car in bad weather. The narrow axis makes it seem as though the wind can blow over the car and always pushes the car around on a very windy day.

Great first car.
My parents purchased this vehicle for me when I turned 16, and I have used it for eight years now. It was previously owned by a travelling salesman, so it had many miles when I first got it. By now, thanks to several cross-country trips, it is approaching 200,000 miles and still running well. The maintenance I have had to provide for the vehicle is minimal. We took it to the shop with I first got it to have the airbags fixed and made sure there were no issues the previous owner didn't tell us about/know of. Other than that, no problems. One thing that I dislike about it is that the turn radius is not great. I have to be very careful when parking, especially in tight lots. As far as driving goes, on highways the wind can make the inside a little loud, but I think I just need to get the windows resealed. Overall, it was a great first car for me because my top priority was safety. The car is large enough that it will provide adequate protection in an accident, but also not as large as some of the other cars on the market, which I view as too big.

Nice all around
Overall, I have been very pleased with the Saturn Vue. It gets great mileage and handles well on both dirt and the highway. For a small cross-over SUV, it performs above expectations. It does skid a bit when driving on ice, so if you live in a really cold climate, take that into consideration. Otherwise, it performs quite well and has plenty of 'get-up-and-go' whenever you hit the gas. There is plenty of cargo room in the back if you fold down the back seat. Although it does not come standard, there are several aftermarket luggage racks available. I have one and have used this little Saturn to haul sheets of plywood and drywall. One downside is that the body is fiberglass, so that might not be as sturdy as some would like, but that is also one reason for the excellent mileage. The interior is well done, and the seats are quite comfortable. I often travel long distances in the Saturn, and it suits me well for highway travel. This has been a great vehicle, and I would buy it again.
