This dealership was so great because it gave us the best price on an available Pontiac Solstice. They were very kind and hospitable.

My advice would be to try and avoid downtown Scranton at all if they did not need to travel there. I would highly recommend going around it. Traffic is always bad, trucks tend to travel on it when they don't always fit, and the college is there also. People tend to walk out in front of cars a lot also. So downtown would be a negative. Another negative would have to be to be careful of the potholes. There are a lot of potholes on side streets and alleys haven't been paved in a very long time. If I was new to the city I would stick to traveling on Main Avenue or Keyser Avenue. They have easy access and mainly contain all stores and restaurant's. Off streets would contain smaller grocery stores. These stores are great local owners though. If you are looking for scenic things to do definitely drive to Lake Scranton, Nay Aug Park, or Maude. Of the three I would choose Maude Park as my number one place for a family outing. It has a great park for your children, basketball hoops, and a pool. The pond is amazing also which allows for kids to fish for free.
The best way to shop for a car in this city is to drive around and view the cars yourself. There are a lot of tiny car dealerships that will sell high mileage or defective cars for higher prices. Some are stubborn when it comes to you telling them there cars are not worth how much they are asking for it. There are an over abundance of dealers in this city so they are not hard to come by. Simply taking a day out and search around. Searching is probably your best shot at finding the car you want. I cannot recommend a specific dealer as great because it seems everyone has good opinions and bad opinions about each dealer. I would highly recommend though checking each car and inspecting it thoroughly. Craigslist is also a good way to find cars in the city if you are not able to get a ride to search around physically. You can usually get them down in price also because they want to get rid of their cars. Definitely look around. You can use other sites to find a car in the city but please look the car over completely.
My favorite time driving in this city was when I first got my car to be honest. First I drove to Lake Scranton. Its really pretty there and its in the city but it doesn't feel like the city. Beautiful trees and an amazing walking trail. You can drive there and then take a gorgeous walk around the lake. After the lake, I drove to Manning's ice-cream to get ice-cream. Manning's is at the bottom of the hill from the lake but not very woodsy anymore. They have the best ice-cream and the owner is local. My drive was nice but there are a lot of potholes in the city so I would recommend being careful. There are two main streets in the city also that I drove on this day. I drove from Main avenue to Keyser avenue. Both streets are the length of the city and great if you just want to joyride. The ride was smooth on these streets. The traffic isn't bad and there are few traffic lights to worry about. It is a comfortable ride. When I want to get out I take different routes through the city just to get my mind off things. There is a lot to see in the city.
North Main Avenue. Main avenue is my favorite road to drive on because it connects different cities. If I am feeling down I will drive on Main avenue and just keep driving until I get to other towns. Main avenue is also the easiest way to get to certain parts of the city. I live close by it. Main avenue also has access to the express way to get directly downtown if you needed to. All in all everyone in the city pretty much takes Main Avenue if they need to get somewhere. I also like Main Avenue because it has the main dining spots. Gerrity's, nail salons, and even Pher's Pizzeria. Pher's has the most amazing food also. If I were new to traveling in this city I would just travel Main Avenue to get where I was going if you are in a hurry. This street also has a higher speed limit than any other street in the city as well. Its not high speed but its fast to get where your going compared to other routes. It also has many different sites to see. All in all Main Avenue has everything you would need as long as you travel on it.

Definitely give yourself plenty of extra time when driving in Scranton. You have to familiarize yourself with all the one way streets and where to make turns on to them. It can be very difficult at times and you definitely need the extra time so that you don't wind up having to turn around over and over again.
I remember once on St Patrick's Day when I had to wind through all sorts of different side streets and alleys to get to the club where I was DJing at. I didn't have the option of waiting for the parade to be over because the people that were attending the parade were also attending the club in which I was playing. It was quite the task to try and get to the spot where I was finally able to unload my equipment and set up for the day. Another great memory was when I was in nursing school, trying to drive the side streets and find the directions to this one hospital that I wasn't familiar with. I ended up pulling over a UPS guy to ask him for directions. That was an interesting day.
North Keyser Ave. I absolutely love driving up Bombay Lane and all the other winding streets hidden in the mountainous area of nearby Berwick. They're such a fun set of streets to drive, they never have other people on them. It's very enjoyable and tests your driving skills.
