Great first car
Great little car. Still running great even at 14 years old. Not your best option if you're looking for a ton of power, but can move when you need it to. Only had to put a few hundred dollars into it in the 2.5 Years I've owned it. Fantastic!

The Hyundai Elantra is a great car, even greater for the price.
My Hyundai Elantra is a trooper. It has taken many lickings, and keeps on ticking. It's been hit multiple times while parked. There are dents sure, but the body has remained rust free, even though I've kept it outside for 15 years. It has needed little if any maintenance. It always passes inspection. It is a 2001 model, and I only have 45k miles on it. It needed to be serviced for two recall notices, that got fixed for free by a dealer. The electronic components seem to be wearing out a bit, but nothing has totally broke yet. The driver side window button is loose. A mechanic told me I would need to replace the whole door, but I don't believe that. Also, the lights are little loose, and turn off sometimes at night while turning... It is just a minor loose connection. It still rides quietly and smoothly. It doesn't have as much pep as it used to, but it has more than I need. I had a problem with the speed sensor where it would stay in 3rd gear without going into 4th gear, but that was fixed for about $300 and hasn't been a problem since. I think that was my fault because I used to throw it into neutral while on the highway to save on gas. Throwing it into drive from neutral while going 55 MPH couldn't have been very good for it. Anyway, hopefully it will stay running smoothly without need for major repair for the foreseeable future. Its trunk is the perfect size to transport a lawnmower, with the handles sticking out. I used it for 7 years for my landscaping business instead of a truck.
