I would suggest to obey all posted speeds because they are heavily monitored by cameras and patrol cars at all times, day and night. Learn the alternate routes (back roads) in order to give yourself an alternative route to home or work. When delays occur, the road congestion will at time leave you stuck in traffic for hours.

The smaller towns on the outskirts of Lafayette, Louisiana are the best places to shop due to the variety of dealers and dramatic price drops in the suburb areas. The smaller towns also offer a better experience with friendly people and southern hospitality. Try Carencro, Abbeville, New Iberia, Breaux Bridge, Crowley, Opelousas, and any other towns in between.
Favorite driving memory
I have lived in and around Lafayette, Louisiana my whole life and know each and every back road and small town in Cajun Country like the back of my hand. Driving back and forth to high school with my older sister down Hwy 343 from Mire and down Gloria Switch Rd to Carencro High School is by far one of my most favorite memories. She was a Junior and I was a Freshman so she was behind the wheel for the two years we rode together. We would bicker of course but we always had fun singing and dancing in her beat up old car.
Favorite road
Kaliste Saloom. Kaliste Saloom is located on the part of town that does not require me to cross the Vermillion River to get to it. Crossing over the Vermillion River to get to the other side of town is always a hassle because there are only two roads in town to cross it and they are always heavily congested. Kaliste Saloom Rd stretches nearly the entire length of town and has a wide variety of shops and businesses for shopping, dining, entertainment, and anything in between.

I would price the car you are looking for online first to get a range for what its selling for. Car salesman are notorious for persuasion and intimidation. I wouldn't look on Craigslist because they are not trustworthy. I would go to kelly bluebook.
Favorite driving memory
I don't have much of a "driving highlight" because Lafayette is a huge city with a lot of people on the roads. Our city keeps growing with new businesses, and more people are moving here. The roads are crazy at some times, have to be smart about driving around here. One time I was on the road during 5:00 traffic and I was moving along and someone wanted to take a left from the far left lane, they didn't wait for me to stop they pressed the gas and cut in front of me, I had to slam on my brakes I was literally an inch from crashing into him. People do not think, they go on impulse.
Favorite road
Johnston Street. This road takes you anywhere you want to go, it has all the places I need to go to on this road. Anywhere for food places to grocery stores to drugstores.
