Best purchase I've ever made
This was my first major car purchase. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The gray exterior and dark gray interior matched my style perfectly. The car performed exceptionally well. No major problems even after 100,000+ miles. I get more than 40 mpg and considerably more than that on the highway. This car handles curves and corners well. Driving stick shift was a thrill! I didn't learn to drive a standard until I purchased the vehicle. This was an awesome vehicle to learn on and very forgiving. It may be a small vehicle but it can still do work! I've hauled tons of potting soil, wood chips and other gardening supplies in the truck. Overall, a great purchase that I would highly recommend to anyone.

The Ford Escort ZX2: Small, efficient and reliable
I bought the car used for a total of $3500 back in 2010 and the considering it was 7 years old at that point it still runs as good as it did the day I bought it. It's a two door coupe so it's very small but for a personal car for taking on commute for work or school it's great. Very fuel efficient as well I think I get around 27 mpg in city.

No frills, but gets the job done
Overall, this is a car that is dependable, but not a fun drive. Despite the model year, the car has no power locks, no CD player, and a malfunctioning tape deck. My AC has not worked as long as I've owned the car and I have been told that it would cost more to repair than what the car is worth. Thankfully, the heat works (and I'm lucky I tolerate heat a lot better than I tolerate the cold.) It's a two-door model, which I find really inconvenient if I have to transport large items, as it's a hassle to get things into the backseat. It's got a decent amount of trunk space, and is a nice small car, which makes downtown parking a breeze. There is a worrying shaking in the car at times that I have had investigated by a mechanic. They can't seem to find the cause but assure me that everything is fine. The windows in the vehicle are your old-school hand crank kind. I actually prefer that due to possible mechanical issues with power windows. The car accelerates moderately. You're not going to be winning the Formula One in this thing, but you'll at least be able to get up and go when you need to. Braking is very nice during the drive, smooth and easy. The car is pretty low to the ground, so you also feel just about every little bump and ditch in the road. This is not the car to drive down poorly maintained roads, unless you like to feel like a James Bond martini (shaken, not stirred). Great gas mileage though! Typically about 30 miles to the gallon. I use this car for work 5 days a week and typically refill my tank about every week and a half. The car has a 10-gallon tank, so filling up at a station doesn't hurt the wallet too terribly even with today's gas prices. Inside the car, there is a nice spacing for me (but I am a very small person, and taller passengers have complained about lack of leg room). Overall, there isn't much styling for the interior. It's very basic. Everything is a shade of black, and the seats have a very outdated design on them. I have opted to use decorative seat covers, because I really do not like the design. With being so small, the car doesn't have much in the way of blind spots if you know how to position your mirrors. I do an extensive amount of highway driving and like that I always feel confident before making lane changes or merging. I have owned this car for two years now and have not had any troubles which required a visit to the shop outside of the AC issue and routine maintenance. This is not my favorite car, but it is reliable and I feel safe on my day-to-day drives.
