2003 Mazda Protege OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

This is a great car
I think this is a quality vehicle. I bought it because my previous car was also a Protege and 2003 was the last year they were making them in that style. I feel that it performs well and handles well. I have less than $50,000 miles on it and I have had it for 10 years. I have only had minor problems with it.

A reliable workhorse.
This car has performed reliably for over a decade for me. I bought it used, and it looks like the previous owner may have had an accident with it. I've been maintaining the car well, making sure the fluids are regularly checked and at their proper levels. The Protege has been through some rough winters and brutal desert summers. The gas mileage for the Protege isn't the best, but considering it's a model that's almost 15 years old, it's still better than all the SUVs you see around. The sound system it came with wasn't amazing, but it was easy to have modified to what I like. It's a great car for just getting you from point A to point B. If you're not really into cars and just want something to commute in, the Protege is a great car. I've found that there's enough space in the trunk for pretty much whatever I need, and the legroom is enough (I'm 6'4"). Since it's a smaller car, it's easier to park in the city than the much larger cars in the area here. Mine came with a sunroof, which at the time didn't really matter, but I really like it.
