The engine has had a lot of trouble. It was one of the first years they put turbo charge engines in. There has been several recalls on this model. Ranging from timing chain, airbags, and control arms. The car is very comfortable to sit in and easy to drive. I feel very safe in the car. It is a small SUV, but I am able to have three car seats in the back seat, and everyone is comfortable. Maintenance is rather expensive because of labor. Getting to any part in the engine means removing most of the engine to get to it. Also, the car has no traction so any type of rain and the car slides everywhere. It also holds and extra quart of oil, so oil changes cost extra. And the rims are larger, so tires are very expensive. Overall, I would purchase another Mazda of the same make just of the current year.

The Mazda CX-7 Sport is a great medium sized SUV for a reasonable price. The sport edition adds extras that although not necessary, are certainly noticeable and later appreciated. I purchased the four cylinder model (for better gas mileage) and you would not even be able to tell. Gas pedal is responsive and shift points are well placed. The electronic sport shift leaves much to be desired, but unless you are dead-set on using it, it's not a deal breaker. One drawback to this car is that the interior is noisy on the highway, a problem that plagues many other Mazda models. Overall though, the vehicle is an excellent buy for a mid-size SUV. The fold down seats provide ample space, and many times I have used this vehicle to transport things and been pleasantly surprised at just how much could fit into the back. I would recommend this model to a friend.

The Mazda CX-7 is one of the fastest cars I have owned. It takes off with such a smooth speed and leaves other cars in the dust. The engine was beautifully made and stays clean and runs smooth. There is no puttering or firing back and I have owned the car for now eleven years. The car is a smooth as the day I purchased it. It has plenty of room for people who are about 5'6 after that you might begin to have problems. The car is definitely for those who are short in stature however there is a lot of room for putting your luggage and other items.
