The sporty test drive on a curvy road told me everything I wanted to know - whether there was joy in the experience, and there was. The RX-8 has 4 seats, with suicide-style rear doors, and being a passenger in the back seat is no problem for an average-sized person. There was better view ability out the back windows versus other sporty vehicles I tested, a nice stereo system, cruise control for long drives, traction control to minimize wheel spin on slippery surfaces. Plus the car looks good and I loved the red color of the one I picked. But best of all it has a rotary engine, so a smooth power curve and less banging in the engine bay.

It is a fun car to drive. It handles very well. It is a very attractive vehicle. It is comfortable. The included options (navigation, etc) are very nice.

I had owned a Mazda RX-8 for about 2 years. I really liked the overall design and performance of the vehicle. The interior was really comfortable and functional for day-to-day use, even though it was a sports car. I ultimately ended up selling the car for money to pay for school, also because of the poor fuel economy and the money that was required for constant upkeep on the vehicle. I used it mostly as a daily commuter for trips between home and school and the grocery store. It had been taken on some cross country road trips, and it performed just fine as well. I really enjoyed the manufacturers warranty that came with the vehicle, since they covered any mechanical issues that I incurred during my ownership.
