Reliable crossover
Overall I really like the 2008 Pontiac Torrent. It handles well while driving in various conditions. The all wheel drive handles all weather conditions great, from ice to snow to rain. It gets good gas mileage for the size. I average 21-22 mpg driving around town and commuting. Driving long distance on highways I get anywhere from 25-28 mpg. It is very comfortable to sit in while traveling long distance. The maintenance costs seem to be a bit on the higher side compared to other vehicles I have owned. And it seems to chew through tires for whatever reason even though I get them rotated and balanced regularly. It is also next to impossible to complete maintenance on your own, you almost always have to take it to the mechanic. For instance to change the headlight you need a special extender for the ratchet to get to it that typically only a mechanic would have.

Fantastic Family Car
Overall this vehicle is great for a family. Great gas mileage and handles wear and tear of little people in and out great. I actually love the cloth seats - this fabric is a breeze to clean and doesn't rip or snag easily. The layout for the driver is the best. I am an above average sized woman and newer SUVs have a tendency to have a small dainty feeling... not this SUV.

Great Reliable Vehicle
The Pontiac Torrent has been one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. The build quality is beyond that of what I would consider excellent. I've owned mine since 2009 and made absolutely zero repairs other then general maintenance. We change the oil every 3,000 miles, keep the air filter clean, and the Torrent just keeps going and going with minimal signs of wear. The interior has held up well over the years despite having three kids. Everything still operates properly, including the windows that my kids wore out in less then three years with our old Ford Expedition. I would also like to note I've been utterly most surprised with the build quality. My last Expedition, needed front end parts what seemed like every single year. After 7 years of driving the Torrent and the front end still seems tight as if it was brand new and most importantly handles like a dream car. I feel the Torrent still has plenty of life left in it, although it's getting time to trade in, I feel the Torrent will keep running forever and forever with just minimal maintenance.
