Love this car.
I first got this car when I was in high school. It was used to get me to and from school. It since has been apart of my family. It is one of those cars that have been passed around. It has amazing gas millage, great pick up and does not make any weird noises. It still drives as well as it does the day I got it. The only thing that I do not like about it is how small it is. But this is really only an issue when I drive other people around. Even with that this is the car I prefer. I have two cars to choose from and almost always go with my Jetta. I do not have to fill it up that often and when I do it does not take a chunk out of my wallet.

A Good Car for a college student
I own a 2001 Jetta and it has been a great car. I have owned this car since 2005 (so 10 years), in that time, I have driven the car to multiple states across the country and it has gotten me through my college years and young adulthood. It has had some medium level repairs done such as having the brakes redone, a serpentine belt replaced, countless oil changes, and some work done to the engine. Despite some normal repairs and already high mileage at the time of purchase, the car keeps going and going. The thing is going to run forever, if I can afford the repairs! That is one thing that bothers me about the car: it costs so much to repair (even for simple things). However, it is such a fun, zippy little car that it will be hard to part with when the day comes.

Worst car I've ever had
This is the first car that I ever bought and I bought it used outright at a used car dealership. I loved it at first, I've always loved the look and style of a Jetta and was so excited to get it. I love the shape of it, and it was a black car which I thought was sleek and stylish. I had leather seats which were nice, and the seat warmers were absolutely amazing! I loved the sunroof and the stereo was great. I loved this car so much.. Until I started getting problems! First of all the front of the car was lowered, so I constantly would pull the front end off my car if I parked anywhere where there was the little concrete marker in the parking space. Then there were so many issues with the car, it would constantly overheat, it needed a new alternator because the battery kept dying, it needed a new engine, and it blew a head gasket. At one point when I was driving, all the gauges started malfunctioning and I couldn't tell how fast I was driving nor how much gas was in my car! The gauges kept going all the way left to all the way right. Another issue was that because it was a foreign car many mechanics didn't know how to fix it, and also it was expensive to replace certain parts.
