Volkswagen New Beetle OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

I love my bug
I’ve always liked Slug Bugs. Having one was my dream car since I was in middle school, and then I finally got one. I’m not a car girl: I don’t care about specs or speed; I want my car to be safe and work. The fact the car is awesome looking is the added bonus. I’ve had problems with it about once a year, mostly electrical. But it goes when I tell it to go, and gets me where I need to go.

Reliable but expensive parts
This car is very reliable, which is a good thing because when something does go wrong, it's very expensive to replace. That being said, it rarely happens. Gas mileage is acceptable and it's roomier than you'd expect. All in all, a good car for the price.

nightmare car
I bought this car for me because I thought it would be a nice fun car for my siblings to enjoy being in and just for the classic beetle feel and look. I like the style and always wanted one, perhaps I should have splurged and got the convertible one, but I can't say I would trust it. It for starters is quite comfortable it is spacious enough for the front two and the back seats suit small people. There's loads of headspace and a sizeable trunk. The rear window does not have the best visibility but it was alright, From five years on was when the trouble started to set in. It was in the shop constantly for electrical problems, and then it would fire off little signals but the VW mechanics wont look at it until those warnings are off because they want to assume the problem is something else so they don't have to cover the warranty. complete wastes of time and humans. I hated interacting with the customer care staff at the VW dealership they are a nightmare. the car was fun to drive for a few short years, its acceleration was horrible and at top speeds felt like it could crumble at any moment. It was a nightmare in the winter and had no grip and it just didn't feel like a safe car. it is currently on bricks non-opped. should have sold it when I had the chance before it died.
