Dependable strong little car
I have loved this car since the day that I purchased it. The gas mileage does very well and it is my town car to run the most miles on when I need it. The hatchback helps with shopping or when I'm fitting my surfboard in there for a beach weekend. The only complaint I would have is the small wheel base and small wheels make the car an easily stuck car when in mud or sand. The good side to this is that the car is so small so it's easy to get out of a stuck position. The paint job is very good because I have another car that has been hit by the constant Hawaiian sun and the paint is faded and peeling in spots. Overall I am very pleased with this vehicle and would definitely buy it again.

The best little car!
Overall, I think the Aveo is a nice little car. It's head-on competitor for 2004 was the Toyota Echo, which, in my mind, was a little turd visually by comparison. The Aveo provides decent throttle feedback for its small engine displacement and brings in great fuel economy. The build quality is above average, but the materials are lacking slightly. The dash and interior plastics are similar to other GMs of that era, lots of hard grey plastic. The good news about the interior is that for a stock radio package, the four-speaker Mp3 CD player puts out a good level of sound quality. The Aveo looks good, well rounded and offers a solid, quiet ride. The only two squabbles I have with the Aveo are handling and one comfort feature. When pushed into a corner, it feels awfully top heavy due to its high ceiling. The lack of an available cruise control feature in 2004 makes long journeys a bit less comfy. However, the car is useful! The hatch opens to a split folding rear seat that will tip and flip over to create a massive 42cu ft. of rear cargo capacity. I recently drove my Aveo over 500 miles, with a collie dog and two suitcases in the back and a front passenger. The car is also very fun. It is spunky, cute and they come in a variety of great colors.

Cheap car to get around in.
First thing I noticed was how much of a tin can this car felt like. Very small on the inside and not much to it. The outside looks just like a basic Korean small sedan with nothing that sticks out. Very forgettable. It's equipped with very small size wheels and I had a problem with the car going through tires faster than it should. Under 30k miles I had problems with the hood and trunk latches breaking. Under the hood is a "eco" engine that gave decent miles per gallon, but with a small gas tank you end up at the gas station more than you should have to. The inside is very basic. Cheaply made cloth seats, front and back. Sun visors that feel like they have cardboard under the cloth. A weird layout for cup holders and storage spaces that were oddly shaped. A wiring issue that is common with this car causes the interior dome light to constantly short out. It drives fine, you can feel some perk in 1st gear that lower RPMs but after that it crawls. I would not want this to be a car you drive in a rural area. It is definitely a "city" car. I would not recommend this car to anyone unless they got it for free and live in the city. There is a reason why Chevy dropped the Aveo name and changed it to Sonic.
