Lubbock, TX Driving Tips
The entire city is like a grid! Finding general directions is pretty easy and getting lost is almost impossible. Main roads cross many small roads. I would recommend driving on main roads as much as possible and only use small roads when you're about to arrive to the destination. The traffic in this city isn't bad. You shouldn't ever need to find a small alternative route as opposed to one of the main streets.
Lubbock, TX Buying Tips
Any kind of car would work for this city. A luxury car wouldn't be completely necessary since the city isn't flashy at all. You see them occasionally on the road, but it really doesn't match the environment. Just drive something affordable and fits your style. The city is small, so all of your trips will be short.
Favorite driving memory
One of my favorite memory of driving in this new city is my first time driving around the highways at night. The stars scatter across and illuminate the pitch black sky. It is very unlike the city life! As I slowly cruised on the empty highway, I realized that even if the city isn't as developed and even though skyscrapers do not gaze ominously over the houses below, this small town has its own quirks. The air feels crisper. The atmosphere isn't humid. It just seems much more natural in a small town.
Favorite road
19th Street.. It's a very big road that is close to the University campus. Many manors and mansions line up near the campus on this road. Of course, the University is one of the major attractions to the city with its Spanish architecture. There are many more modern shopping centers that open around the center of 19th street as well.

Lubbock, TX Driving Tips
Just relax and take it easy, no need to rush since there is not a lot of traffic here. However, if you want to merge from smaller road, you better put pedal to the metal because the traffic here is fast compared to big cities.
Lubbock, TX Buying Tips
Gas price is pretty cheap here, so you can opt for bigger car if you want, but me myself choose Toyota Corolla, efficient car and cheap gas is a combo in my opinion. Mechanic cost is also not that expensive compared to other cities, so its okay if you want to buy older car to save some money, it will be a plus if you can fix your car DIY of course.
Favorite driving memory
Driving is not really a choice here in Lubbock, it's a necessity. The public transportation is not that good, bus only came once an hour and services are only until 7 pm. But I can't say that I have no memory driving here in Lubbock, first of all, all of my life I've been driving on the left side of the road (i came from right hand driving country), so the first experience is both exciting yet scary, but it's okay after I get the hang of it. The traffic is not that bad here in Lubbock, but I can't say that Lubbock drives are role model drivers, some of them are bad one and aggressive, unnecessary attitude for a city with no significant traffic congestion.
Favorite road
19Th between Slide and Quaker. The asphalt in 19th between Slide and Quaker is smooth and quiet on the car cabin. Not a lot of traffic on this stretch of the road and the speed limit is pretty decent (45 mph).
