The Mazda5 is a good family car for a small family or a family with small children. The three rows are convenient as is the rear hatchback door. Being able to fold the back row down is helpful. This feature allows you to have added room for groceries or other items you need to transport. Our family has three children, including two baseball players. This means that we have to lug gear to tournaments. Being able to fold down one of the seats in the third row has been very helpful. As children grow, however, the limited leg room in the back seats can present a challenge. Families would likely have to look at purchasing a different vehicle to allow everyone to fit comfortably as children start to outgrow the space in the back. Mazda is known for a smooth ride. This car is no exception. It is easy to handle. It has a smooth pickup and increases speeds easily. Being able to have the music play from just the speakers in the back of the car or the front of the car has come in handy. For example, if someone in the back is watching a video on a portable DVD player, the people sitting in the front can still enjoy music. Having a vehicle that is a cross between a mini-van and an SUV has been nice. It offers a sporty look, which we have received many compliments on over the years.

Ok for the price
I bought this car because I needed more room without spending the money on a full size van. I like the way the car looks- it is sleek and modern looking. It gets decent gas mileage and seats up to 6 people. The back and middle row can fold flat for transporting larger items. I enjoy the sunroof, and the seats in the front are comfortable. I have had zero mechanical issues with this vehicle other than routine maintenance. All of the power features still work- power windows and locks. The radio, air conditioner and heat work great as well. It is reliable and served the purpose that I bought it for- more seats for my growing family.

Love this car with a few exceptions
I love my Mazda 5. I love how it seat all 5 of us comfortably. When I became pregnant with our third little one my husband and I knew we needed something that would work with three car seats. The Mazda 5 has been perfect for this. It drives like a car but looks like a small mini van. It easily seat 6 but will seat no more. The back seat is a little cramped to a full grown adult but is manageable. The mpg is great and the price of the Mazda 5 could not be beat. Sadly there is very little cargo space which makes vacations, traveling, and big shopping trips tricky if all the seats have a passenger. Also, it has a hard time going up hills. The air in the back only comes out cold, so it is no help in the winter. However, it has been reliable and really a life saver for the price. I have enjoyed driving it and would recommend it to anyone who has outgrown a car but who isn't ready for a true van.
