Love my old hunk of metal
I had owned a previous Explorer and when the time came for a new purchase, I stuck with the Explorer. Don't let the plain models fool you for a lack of durability or comfort. There is more than enough leg room to keep you comfortable on a long drive, plenty of storage room to pack up for any occasion, and a driver-friendly dashboard that has everything within reach. I have a hitch on the back that I tow a small trailer with, and I love how it tows without any problems. One of the reasons I chose the Explorer is because I have had to drive through some pretty bad snow storms. One occasion I hit a patch of ice. Ice is ice, so any vehicle will slide. After I ended up on the side of the road and into a snow bank, I just clicked it over to four-wheel drive and backed out of it like it was nothing. I had to drive over fifty miles a day to take my husband to a hospital in the winter. I felt safe and secure having the Explorer to drive. It always got me there and got me home. I would describe it as the top-rated, best woman-friendly, four-wheel drive.

Excellent workhorse, wonderful drive
I love my Ford Explorer it is such comfortable SUV, the interior is large but driving it is a breeze. There is hardly a blind spot in the car and it rides smoothly even while pulling a pop up camper and an 8 x 10 trailer. I prefer box looking cars and the white color really makes it pop. This was my third car and probably my favorite I only had to take it to the shop once and that was because a hose popped out of place but other than regular oil changes that was it. I love that the body is all metal. I was in a car accident with the car where I was hit in the left rear and my car barely had a dent and the other car which was newer was torn up. It is a metal tank and I love it! The only con of the car is the pretty low gas mileage. We call it the "gas guzzler." It only gets about 15 - 20 MPG which could be better however, I prefer the power and reliability the car has. The car is very easy to handle and I feel safe in it because of the all metal body (As said earlier) and the ease of the drive. It doesn't feel as if you are driving a large truck or SUV. It feels very comfortable and I think anyone could have an Explorer as their first car. It was the only car that would start up during a freak ice storm and I put my complete faith in my Ford.

Reliable and Tough!
This vehicle is built tough! It is a '98 so it has close to 200k miles on it but it still runs like it's new! It's not the most eco-friendly SUV on the market (by far) but for it's age it goes over bumps like they aren't even there! The interior is still in great condition! Really seems to be "Built FORD Tough" Downside, this car has a lot of slight mechanical errors as I have found, but they are usually inexpensive and quick fixes, usually those you can do yourself. Trust me, if I can do it with my busy schedule as a full time mom and being employed full time, then you know it's easy!
