2007 Ford Explorer OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Solid car for a high schooler just learning to drive.
This vehicle was a very solid choice for my first car. The trim was nice and looked very stylish. We added an aux cord which really made it great. I enjoyed the size of the car. It's not too small, not too big. It made for a great road trip car. The seats could fold down which was nice. Unfortunately, we had problems with the radiator and transmission, apparently common for these cars. It spent several nights in the shop. That comes with the territory of a used car though. I enjoyed the display of the radio/buttons as well. It wasn't the most fuel efficient car but wasn't horrible at the pump. I owned the car for almost seven years before we sold it to someone else. The interior started to get worn with age. One specific thing that always came up when someone was riding in the passenger seat was the door handle! It was a funky door handle to open the car, and people never knew where to grab for it! It seemed to be a pretty advanced ride for it's timing. I really enjoyed driving it. I felt very safe in the vehicle and couldn't have asked for a better ride for my first car.

LOVE
I love my Explorer and have actually turned down getting a newer one because I love everything about this suv. I have twins and need a lot of space. It has comfortably taken us on several trips.

Love this car
Overall, I am very happy with this vehicle. It is very easy to maneuver and control. In fact, I took my driver's test with this car. One of my favorite aspects of the SUV is the mirrors. Unlike typical side mirrors, these have a section that dips down so that you can actually see more of the road as well as the lines of parking spaces, which is very useful if you frequently park backwards (which I typically do). In addition, I really like the interior design of the car and how the seats are cloth in the middle where you sit but leather on the outside. Perhaps the only thing I dislike about the car thus far is that the back seats are electronically controlled and cannot be put up or down manually. I say this because these seats broke a few months after I got the car (it was used) and I don't currently have the money to fix it (since it is not STRICTLY necessary), which means that I am unable to use the back portion to its full capacity. However, I work as a glassblower and the back section perfectly fits all my blowpipes and tools even with the back seat being unable to fold down. The gas mileage is okay - nothing spectacular but also not atrocious.
