Fun but not practical
The Corvette we had was a gorgeous black 1989 Chevy Corvette with a removable hard top. It was really a lot of fun to drive and had a lot of power, but with two kids, it was extremely impractical.

Fast and fun but not too roomy
The removable top makes the coupe into a much more open and visceral driving machine. The V8 engine relies on a push-rod design, but in return for the lack of updates, you have an engine capable of incredible tuning with very little expense. There interior is mostly about function with leather seats that fit like a glove and an adjustable tilt and telescoping steering column. Instrumentation is all digital with the lone exception of the odometer, and power everything made this car very futuristic for its day. There is no reason to buy one of these cars if you're shy. It's impossible to go anywhere with out turning heads and getting friendly waves from pedestrians and other drivers. You'll get where you're going fast, but once you're there, expect to be stopped by people who want to talk about the car and ask questions. This is especially common from former Corvette owners regardless of the generation they owned. The fuel mileage is surprisingly good considering the performance, but a lot of city driving will eat into your wallet nonetheless. Owning a Corvette is an unforgettable experience no matter how long or short the time you own it for.
