If I could give other drivers a tip, I would encourage them to explore the city and try to find their own shortcuts. Simi Valley has a plethora of small backstreets, all of which usually connect to the larger streets. If you really know your way around the city, you can save time by avoiding busy streets between 4-6 PM.

A lot of times, the traffic lights in this city can be unbearably long and slow. If I were to advise someone on which car to buy, I would recommend a smaller sedan with great mileage. There is no need for a sports car in this city, as there is a police officer checking your speed at nearly every corner. Keep it slow while in Simi Valley and conserve your gas! The gas prices here definitely aren't the lowest in the valley!

My favorite memory from driving in Simi Valley would have to be when I saw the sign-twirler outside a local taco shop doing backflips in a gorilla costume. On this particular day, it was nearly 100 degrees...But that didn't stop this very dedicated (and hopefully well-paid) sign-spinner from giving it his all. I still haven't eaten at that taco shop, but I make sure to keep an eye out every time I drive by!

Los Angeles Avenue. My favorite road in Simi Valley would have to be Los Angeles Avenue at night time. It has great scenery and the streets are always very calm and placid. It's perfect for leaving the windows down, enjoying the nice breeze, and listening to some smooth jazz on the radio. It's very residential, so there are a great deal of trees everywhere.

Make sure that all of your lights work and that you use traffic turn signals and stop before the lines at stop lights and stop signs. Simi police have little to do and it wouldn't surprise if they will write you a ticket for having too much dust on your headlights.

I would recommend going to the Automall in Westlake Village. It's not that far and you will have a lot more selections.

There is an annual fair in Simi Valley, CA that my girlfriend wanted to go to. Traffic lights can be far from each other and few in number and this fair was in the summer and it was hot and we had been driving for a while and we just wanted to get out and stretch our legs. I missed my turn and it would be what seemed to be at least a mile before another opportunity came up. I did the risky thing and just made a U-turn right in the middle of the street. A Ventura County motorcycle cop was on a perpendicular road and hit his lights and I was sure that I was going to get a ticket. My girlfriend did the talking, or rather the smiling and the officer asked if we were going to the fair and if we lived in Simi, to which we had just moved, and told us to have fun and drive carefully. That was a really close call.

Los Angeles Avenue. That is the main road through the center of Simi Valley. It's a lot more convenient than taking the 118 Freeway for most local commuting in Simi Valley. There are few traffic police officers on the road.
