Spacious and reliable.
This car is huge! I love that I can fit just about anything in the trunk. It is also really sturdy and heavy and makes me feel like I would be super safe in an accident. It drives great even in bad weather and handles incredibly well. It is also fast but stops on a dime. It is a very fun car to drive and is really comfortable with lots of room. I also enjoy the looks I get from other drivers as they try to decide if I'm a police officer or not. Since it is an old police car, the radio is pretty basic with no CD player or aux port, but it works fine. There are not a whole lot of cool bells and whistles, and I certainly wouldn't consider it a luxury vehicle. My biggest issues with it have been exhaust issues and the terrible gas mileage. I researched before buying, so I knew there was a chance for exhaust problems, but it still is no fun shelling out the money to fix multiple catalytic converters. Since the vehicle is so huge, the gas mileage is pretty terrible for a car. I get as low as 13 mpg depending on how I'm driving. Overall, I really like my car and it is fun. I'm just not sure it's the most practical choice for a car.

A tank. A cruise ship. A gas guzzler.
I purchased the car from the original owner, the Las Vegas police department, at an auction. I had never purchased a car this way before. At the inspection the day before, I saw water spots on the hood and concluded the car must have spent years in a garage, maybe it belonged to a detective who didn't drive it much. That turned out to be true, the car had only 92,700 original miles on it after nine years. After I bought it wouldn't start, but a jump start and a trip to the local Wal-Mart fixed that right up. All it needed was a new battery and four new tires, and except for routine maintenance, that has been the story. I was able to find an insurance company that didn't charge extra for the Police Interceptor model -- among other things the 4.6L V8 has police-grade acceleration, or as they say in the movie cop shocks, cop alternator, cop suspension. Reading through the owners' manual, I noticed some other things -- Police Interceptor parts are given twice the unit testing as are parts for civilian model Fords. It is now 2019 and the Crown Victoria hasn't been made since 2011 -- yet many police forces still swear by them and resist upgrading to newer models. Aftermarket parts are widely available, a Crown Vic should last 400,000 miles with proper maintenance.
